It's pretty sad, when you have to drive over an hour away from your local, home town, O'Riley's location, just to get access to friendly, AND Helpful O'Riley's employees.😭🤬💩🤬 You see, I needed a brake cylinder for a 1970 VW Beetle, so I went to the local O'Reilly's store, in Macon, MO, and when I presented the old one, and told him what part I needed, and what year VW, that I believe it was, he pushed a few buttons on the computer, and said, "Nope, I don't see anything like that listed here." So, I told him that I may be off on the exact year, but that it was most probably between, a 1968, and probably like a 1972 VW Beetle, possibly even as new as a 1979, VW Beetle, or possibly a VW Karmann Ghia, but I highly doubted, that it would be newer than 1980 model at most. I tried explaining to him, that it was for a Volkswagen powered, three-wheeled trike, that it was a manufactured kit, and then beyond that, how was it entirely sure, what year, or what model it was exactly, but that almost all the Volkswagen brake cylinders, that I had ever seen, all the basically the same. The only real difference, was possibly the size of the brake cylinder, but otherwise they all look the same. So I asked if you find me the closest one that shows on the computer as compared to the one I took off in my trike, and brought in to compare it to. I also explained that I had looked the part up online, on the O'Riley's website, and that it showed as many as three different variations of the brake cylinder, but that, they might not be in stock at the Macon store. He punched a few more buttons on the computer, and then told me, flat out, that he had " "looked up , every year, and model of Volkswagen, from 1968, to 1982," and that, there was "Absolutely, Nothing, listed , that even remotely, looked like the one that I brought in, and was laying on the counter, in front of him!" I said "Really?!?" , " Not 1 VW brake cylinder, between the years 1968, and 1982, and not even 1 match?!?" He again said "Nope, not even 1 that looks anything like that." Knowing enough about them to know that he was at the very least, not looking for the correct part, for the correct vehicle I told him, OR , he was just flat out not going to help me find the car part, that I was needing! Still not, entirely sure, which one it really was, but at that point I was absolutely certain, there was no point in attempting to explain any further, because, he was for SURE, NOT going to even try to look any further for my part. So I found my wife, who was looking down 1 of the isles, and we paid for the couple of items, she had picked up, for another project, and we left. To say that I was highly confused , and extremely frustrated, would be the understatement of the year, so far, anyway. So we decided we would have to go to a different store location. Not the first time I've got this kind of service at this particular location. The last time I went in to buy battery, and have them assist me in installing it, as it is advertised, everywhere, including the front window at the time, that they do there, at O'Reilly's Auto parts store, and I was told that they couldn't help me I should go to Walmart, which unfortunately I did and they were more than happy to help me at Walmart ain't got me and my battery in my car out the door in less than 30 minutes! At Wal-Mart! So, I have decided, that I will NEVER, go back , to the Macon O'Reilly's Auto parts location, ever again, for any reason!! So when I discovered online that the Columbia store, on the Business loop, had at least two if not three, are these brake cylinders that the Macon O'Reilly's employee, basically told me, did not exist, that I would for sure stop by the Columbia location, since I was going to be in Columbia tonight. Not only were they friendly, and helpful, they found the part , they even compared the two different ones, that they had in stock, and we figured out that the different variation was primarily, just front, and rear brakes. And they could not believe that an O'Reilly's employee would have told me that!
