New owners and very accommodating and helpful. Lost some money in the bill changer and owner was there within 20 minutes. Very friendly and apologetic. This is the only self-serve car wash I use and I expect that with new ownership it'll just get better. Thanks and good luck to the new owners!

Great car wash. The sprayers have plenty of pressure, any more and they might remove paint. Very rarely does it ever run out of anything. The wax always works, the foam brush always has foam, the spotless rinse always works and everything else as well. Great vacuums and the fragrance sprayer always has stuff in it and last a pretty long time if you spray it under both seats. Pretty much lasts until you wash it again. I would recommend this car wash to anyone who's like me and only goes to the drive through for a under body flush to get any salt off a few times a year but doesn't really trust it not to scratch the paint.

This use to be a great quarter wash but recently there has been a change in pricing :( much like others have said, $3 to start wash, and each quarter added adds roughly 15 seconds. ($5 may get you 4:40 of spray time by the time you put quarters in) this is ridiculous! For the 8-10$ you'll need to wash your car you may as well go to auto-wash down the road. As a loyal customer that has used this wash for 20+ years I'm disappointed to say I'll finally be going elsewhere :-(

Don’t go here unless you want to get charged $10 for 6 minutes of time on the self wash. Do not use a card or you will be. What a joke. You can wash your car for $3.25 at Lyon Auto Wash down the street.

Not many self serve washes have spot free rinse at the end, and the ones that do usually are run down/poorly maintained. But Lightning Auto Wash is maintained well has great water pressure and doesn’t skimp out on the chemical applications. I highly recommend checking this place out for your next self serve wash!

This car was is generally a good place to go, I hadn’t encountered any issues until the coin machine didn’t give my money back. I put in some money and never received the coins. I called Brad at the number provided in the bays multiple times, no answer. I have yet to hear from them on the issue.

They upped their prices and shortened their time. For both the vacuums and the car wash. Also I used a credit card and it charged me ten dollars just for rents.That was like less than a minute. Do not recommend. Also it feels unsafe and like a shady place.

It's not on a main road and it's the highest price coin-op in South Lyon, so if one of the other auto washes is too busy, this place probably isn't but other than that go somewhere else. All of their machines are set to the least amount of time per coin. and water pressure is either very high, or non-existent depending on the bay you use, and how many other people are there.

I used the automatic touchless wash. I paid for the most expensive option at $13. The machine skipped the Rain-X, which I believe is the only difference between the $11 and the $13 washes. Also, the wash does NOT have a dryer, which I’ve never seen with any automatic wash. I wouldn’t use this place again.

Customers, be aware of charges here. It’s $1 per min charge for manual car wash although there’s no clear sign of prices. Just a sign of minimum $6 charge. Attached is a screenshot of charges for two cars manually washed.

I recently read a one-star review mentioning increased prices, which is understandable as businesses need to remain profitable. However, the primary concern is the lack of transparency regarding the cost—specifically, a quarter providing only 15 seconds of wash time. Initially, I assumed this was an error, so I inserted additional quarters, ultimately spending $6 on a self-serve wash. Unfortunately, I didn’t have time to use the brush, as I was constantly running back and forth to the change machine. A clear sign stating the 15-second time per quarter should be prominently displayed to prevent confusion. Additionally, the time spent retrieving extra change resulted in a loss of $1 worth of wash time. This issue needs to be addressed, as competitors offering better value and a more efficient experience will likely attract more customers. For instance, I could spend $7 at Lyon Auto Wash for a drive-through service that provides significantly better value.

I went through their automatic wash and it didn't even clean my truck at all. My truck was still all covered in dirt just like the stuff never even touched it. I am very disappointed that I wasted my money here

Best car wash in the area. Touch free bay. Spot free rinse, and an owner that cares. Phone number is on the wall of each bay, the brushes don't scratch your vehicle like they do down the street. Do your vehicle a favor. Take it here.

Update 2025… No soap on high pressure wash… at all… not a drop. Bay three left of change machine. I’m done with this place. Talk to owner and he was like “that’s strange”. I wonder if he reads his reviews. Dude.. you’re not rated well!! The place is suffering. AND 3.00 bucks to start! Highest in town. 2023 OK.. What happened? I use to love this place. I'm kinda fed up after many times of issues... Did they sell? New ownership? who is running the show there? This autowash has gone downhill... I just check my bank account and was charged $10.00 dollars today 8/1/2023 for running my debit card one time for a wash!! I got 5 minutes.

For $1, you can get an entire minute to spray off your car! You better be quick! I don't recommend this car wash to anyone who lives on a dirt road. I spent $2 per tire and wheel wells a wash!! The button is tricky, and make sure to continue to hold the button down to end the wash (I even turn it to stop). The initial few times of holding it down, it didn't work, and money kept being charged. I will never slide my card here but would use quarters. To get the most wash for your buck, I recommend adding $3 until the time runs out and then repeat the process until the car is washed. This establishment is clean, has great water pressure, the soap cleans well, and the rinse process works great. I wasn't able to try the wax process to give my honest opinion. Every option on the dial I utilized worked, and the dial spun smoothly.

Open 24 seven. No one to tip. no pressure to pay monthly. No hassle. Just good prices and from what I can tell, a great wash! It’s night time so I guess I’ll know more in the morning, but it looks great to me! I wish I had taken a before picture because it was a dirt bomb! My parents live on Allen Road in Howell so trust me, it was in desperate need. The place I usually go in south lyon is closed because they’re getting new parts but I was desperate. I love that I can come here at any hour of the night, swipe my phone over the pad, pick a wash and go! thanks, lightning auto wash!
