Pleasant place to shop for groceries. Everyone is always nice, and you can find deals on specific items. Only grocery store in the busy North Roan area.

I don't often go into this store because I have never liked the layout, but I was nearby and thought I would pop-in and pick up a few items for the weekend. I spent roughly $80+ dollars. My bagels, expired the day before, my bread, had a hole with gnats inside, the sushi, expired the next day, the pre-packaged deli meat, expired the next day, the cut up fruit bowl, expired the day I bought it. I spent $8 on a pico/guacamole combo bowl, expired the day I bought it. None of these were "on clearance". These items made up about 50% of my grocery bill. They are either not rotating stock or simply, not doing enough business where things are selling quick enough. Either way, I'm not going to shop where I have to pay full price and have to double-check the expiration date on everything I purchase. A rare, occasional item....they are human, it can happen, it's not worth complaining over. This many items is a symptom of poor stocking practices. Will not be going back again. I cannot speak for the other Kroger locations, only this one. I will say that I have shopped at the one on State of Franklin and the quality is far superior. Never had any issues.

Went to this store this morning and sales associate Gracie was very rude to us after making our purchase at self checkout, asking if we seen the sign for a limit of 2 cases per customer. They had hand written signs hardly legible and were very unprofessional about how they speak to paying customers, my husband and I will not be returning to this store. Also we called the manager Shane, who was on duty at the time, he answered and my husband told him what happened and all he said was hold please I’ll have to see about that and then hung up the phone on us.

I avoid this store like the plague but it’s the closest one to me. It’s ridiculous that there are five or six employees standing up front just chatting and only one register open while the self checkout line is backed up down one of the aisles. Almost as bad as going to Walmart. It’s almost always like that. Also, good luck getting any help in the meat department. Employees will see you waiting and go hide in the back room.

Mediocre produce which is often old. Not a large variety. Strange cashiers and baggers. Staff doesn't know much about produce and most products in general. They need training.

Gas station was beyond rude for no reason. I was already having a bad day so thanks for making me burst into tears because I was already at my breaking point because it was too much for you to just be kind. Won’t be coming back here.

I have never shopped at any grocery store that would aggravate the shoppers and be so rude to the customers as this Kroger's. Both Johnson city Kroger's stores act like they hate their customers, but the Kroger's on Sunset Dr takes the cake. I was shopping there last night for 2 items and it was 10:35 pm and I was being rushed out of the store by some woman named Angie that was dressed in plain clothes and no name badge at all. They called her to the front is how I knew what her name was. She literally stopped me twice and told me to hurry because they were closing and it was 22 mins till to closing time. She was not very nice about it either. I was looking around to see what they had because I usually shop across town. I won't be shopping at the Kroger's again if I can help it. Krogers employees need training on how to treat customers better and don't make them feel like they are trespassing. Angie was so unprofessional and I think she was actually in management. That is the most unfriendliest store around this area.

This is why theft is becoming a massive issue…. One employee working the register and one working 6 self checkouts… don’t be so greedy that you cut out employees to save a few dollars…. I believe she earned her minimum hourly rate a long time ago.

There’s one reason and one reason only why my family keeps coming back to Kroger: Angel. She’s not just helpful but Angel is the only one who speaks Spanish, which has made a huge difference for my family. She makes everyone feel welcomed, respected, and understood. Whether we’re looking for a specific item or just checking out, she’s always patient, kind, and quick with a smile. It’s rare to find someone who genuinely cares and goes the extra mile, but Angel does it every single time. Honestly, if she ever leaves Kroger so do we. That’s how much of an impact she’s had on our experience. Honestly there are days we’ve gone in and not seen her and just left. My parents are comfortable going alone to Kroger now that they know someone speaks Spanish there as well. Kroger, take care of her. She’s a great worker.

Shout out to the cashier named Conner! My parents are disabled and retired, it is the end of the month and money is tight all around. We were trying to get some fresh produce and dairy but their card was short $20. He waited patiently for help so we could have a few items removed, something didn't work and it was still short $20. We were a little panicked as there isn't any extra money to fix it and usually I am in a place where I could help but I couldn't today. I was also silently worried this would stress out my mom who has a heart condition. Conner immediately took it upon himself to fix it! He went above and beyond. Good prices and Great People! Thank you so much Conner & Kroger!!!

Difficult to shop with self checkout usually the only option, downloading the app is the only choice the get the actually price, also scanning QR codes multiple times, and dangerously old carts . Yea what a great store

The store is dirty not stocked, produce department a mess, and especially the front end is a joke. Nothing but lazy kids working who don't know how to ring people up. They don't train them. Just standing around. And only got one lane open with self check out. So you got to wait for like 10 minutes to get check out. And those working as baggers are lazy. They just stand there , don't keep busy or clean the front. Or get buggies. I hate using big buggies. Or and they got people with beards working in the deli with out covering them. And the meat department sucks. I wanted stew meat one night and who ever cut the meat cut them way to small that the meat will cook up to nothing. I won't be surprised if they closed kroger on sunset. I would be happy. I hate lazy people. Plus they don't stay open the posted hours they close early. The bathrooms are dirty and smelly. Homeless people hangs out in them or front of the store. And one time I had to go to the bath room bad , a employee was there in the only stall playing on his phone wasn't even going to the bathroom. I also forgot who ever stocks the bread needs to cut their finger nails, the bread has bag has holes and It goes bad before the date on the bag. And the chips are crushed, they are not careful with them and crushed the bag trying to get more on the shelf so they won't have to work later. And some of the employees are very rude.

Tried to purchase some groceries at 8:00 pm on a Saturday night. The store had crews inside ripping out the old floors. All the aisles were closed off with plastic covering everything. Why would this be done during normal business hours? This should have been done when the store was closed. It was a huge waste of time.

Only self checkouts? I give this place one year before it goes out of business like the Kingsport location. Bad customer service means you go broke - especially when there are actually good grocer stores nearby. Fresh Market doesn’t even have self checkouts.

Went to Kroger's next to Gabe's in Johnson City on New Year's Eve to purchase a gift card. As my boyfriend was approaching the entrance, a man locked the doors and told him they were closed. The sign on the door said closing at 8:00 p.m. My boyfriend informed the man that it was 7:50 and that he only needed to purchase a gift card and would be out by 8:00 p.m. He was basically told tough luck, very rudely might I add. My boyfriend then asked to speak to a manager. The man said he was the manager. In his frustration, my boyfriend used a bit of foul language ( not proud of that ) but what was shocking was that the man who identified himself as a manager said it right back to him. Verbatim. I wasn't aware that employees were allowed to curse at customers. The icing on the cake? They also closed the gas pumps. In the past, Kroger's has always left the gas pumps on 24/7 as long as you're using a card. Drove from Kingsport to Johnson City because up till now we were loyal Kroger customers only to be cursed at, locked out and left without gas. Not a happy customer at all!

During my last visit during normal business hours they were redoing the flooring inside the store. My issue with this during business hours when they are covering the aisles with plastic and closing many aisles down to fix the floor how are you supposed to shop? Not only this they were running grinders to take the old flooring off while next to customers which is a serious concern dut to grinders will throw the flooring which could easily hurt someone. They also had many hazards with machinery and tools laying where anyone could trip. Something of this scale should be done only after closing not during the times consumers are shopping not allowing a safe shopping experience instead create a hazardous environment and preventing the ability to even get the items.

Whoever is the owner of this Kroger's or store manager is thank you so much from the bottom of my heart. As a Muslim, there is actually no place right now in Johnson City who sell fresh halal meat at their store. So thank you so much for making sure that the Johnson City Kroger has halal chicken meat. Thank you so much. I hope you guys can bring in beef as well, which is halal. Both the meat and the mince meat that'd be great. Thank you so much again, whoever you are.
