Today, I had my 2021 Subaru Forrester detailed by Scottie Sherlin at Scottie Sherlin’s Auto Detailing (1543 Patton, Ave., Asheville). Although I regularly have my vehicle(s) detailed, this is the first time I’ve used Scottie Sherlin. Scottie agreed to do a complete interior and exterior detail, including a hand waxing of the exterior for $275 cash. (That is considerably more than I’ve paid in Jacksonville, Florida, so I anticipated excellence from an apparently seasoned detailer.) The job took approximately five hours which seemed reasonable. Unfortunately, however, when I arrived to pick-up the vehicle, it had not been hand waxed, and the entire surface area of the interior had been sprayed with a greasy product. In fact, there were puddles of grease on the floor pads, leather seats, cargo hold liner, and in all of the doorhandles. Knowing that the grease would ruin any clothing that came into contact with it, I asked that the grease be removed. Although they were able to take care of the puddles of grease with a clean rag, every surface is still greasy to the touch, and it’s going to take me hours to undo what they’ve done. Perhaps the most frustrating thing about this experience is the explanation I received upon leaving. It seems the product they chose to use has caused problems in the past, but it was never brought to my attention when I made the appointment or when I dropped off the vehicle. My puppy (in her kennel) dangerously bounced around in the cargo hold like a ping-pong ball all the way home because the liner was so slippery. Although Scottie seemed personable in our interactions and gave me a $25 discount for the trouble, I am not likely to return in the future.

I found a treasure in this place and Scotty Sherlin. I needed a good bit of work cleaning up the interior of my car; mold had built up from a hidden location I had missed and Scotty found it and took care of it. It’s been a while since the interior had smelled this good. Thank you Scotty Sherlin. Very pleasant to talk with and very dedicated to his business. I’ll go back.

I can’t recommend Scottie Sherlin enough. I park in a garage downtown with many pipes running through the ceilings. Something mysterious dripped on the back of my car and left a large rainbow spot on the rear window and on the paint. Like it was an oil base stain and I wasn’t sure it was going to come off after I tried different cleaners and it made no difference. Scottie worked his magic and got it off. My car looks great! He was flexible with my schedule for drop off and pick up and so reasonably priced! I took a stack of his business cards to hand out to all my friends!

Scottie did a great job with our van and was able to get us in quickly! Our van hadn’t been professionally detailed since we bought it, and with two kids and a dog, it was pretty dirty. This is the best place in the area for any detailing and upholstery. I had an accident with one of my leather perforated seats with air conditioning and heating which required the upholstery to be taken off for it to be cleaned. They did a phenomenal job, the seat has never looked better. They were super detailed and cleaned everything! On top of the amazing job they did, they have good prices, work fast, and have excellent customer service!
