Horrible place to buy stuff on sale if you’re not willing to signup for their tracking cards.

Six people in line for self checkout, eight in line for the one register that is open. Come on, Safeway!

The experience I had at this store yesterday is literally the worst experience I have ever had in my 45 years. BARBARA seems to be in the wrong profession. I’m waiting in line and watching the interaction between Barbara and an elderly woman. The elderly woman had issues with her chip and Barbara seemed to be annoyed but ended up helping her and even came around to load the groceries into her cart. As I approached I did the typical smile and how are you small talk. She ignored me. She then closed the register making me her last customer. I made a comment about always wanting to make sure that I properly arrange the items to make the bagging process easy for the cashier. She looked at me with an annoyed look on her face and didn’t respond verbally but the point was taken that it must not have been to her liking. While scanning my items a customer walked and up and placed items on the belt and was immediately scolded by Barbara who communicated her lane was closed. Keep in mind it wasn’t, “sorry, but my lane is closed,” but rather “uh I’m closed.” I started to make excuses in my mind like maybe she is having a bad day. A second customer approached and was met with the same hostility. The game changer was when a cute older couple walked up appearing to be in good spirits and laughing and was met with the same cold “uh I’m closed.” This couple looked as if they could be my parents and I immediately felt like something was very wrong with this cashier. With her blatantly ignoring anything I said and her refusal to be courteous in combination with her treatment of people walking up not knowing the lane was closed was enough for me to let her know how I felt. I simply, and in a calm manner said “you are very unpleasant.” Her response was “well your unpleasant too.” How would she know I was unpleasant being that she ignored me the entire time. I was shocked by her calling me unpleasant when I was nothing but friendly with a smile on my face. To do this whole “no I’m not, you are” response is definitely and strong indicator of her character. I told her that I would be sure to mention her response to corporate and her last words were “yeah, I’m sure you will.” I am completely shocked by this. My family and I have shopped at Safeway most of our lives. This type of behavior and lack of self-awareness is rarely ever adopted overnight. This is something that has to be a norm for her to nonchalantly call me unpleasant and respond to me in the manner she did by saying “I’m sure you will,” when sharing that I’ll be communicating all of this to corporate. I really hope there is a video and audio capability in order to hold Barbara accountable. I’m waiting to hear back from the district manager and I truly hope that if the audio and visual capability is available that he could witness the worst grocery store experience of my entire life. I have an MBA and working on a Dba and I have studied organizational behavior in-depth, which is why I internally made excuses for her thinking it was just her having a bad day. I truly hope that the district manager could hold her accountable. If you can’t do the simple task of being friendly and self-aware, then you are probably not in the right industry. It is no surprise that the competitive business landscape is putting more of an emphasis on Emotional Intelligence rather than IQ, and this is a perfect example.

Great people, great produce, the pharmacy is really busy but handle it well. Be aware they close from 1:30 to 2:00. They handle a hard job with kindness.

I usually shop at Safeway bc it's close, but today I was shocked to see that a regular sized bag of Pete's coffee is now $16.99!? That's crazy. Just a couple months ago, it was priced at $12.99, which is pricey, so I would wait on sales to buy it. But can't believe the price jumped this high in such a short period of time. Walmart's price for same size is $11.56. Is Safeway trying to drive folks to Walmart?

Safeway / Albertsons partners. Both are Great stores. In an area with just about every store you could possibly be looking for. Very well stocked. Clean. Prices are competitive but by no means inexpensive.

They were out of the rolls for the bread, cucumbers, all the turkey and chicken, they burned my bacon, they were also out of onions and the lettuce was the saddest proportion I’ve seen. The wrap job I’m sure a kid could do better.

Safeway was my fourth supermarket in search of an ingredient (chayote) I needed for a dish (sopa de abondigas) I was making. Not only did they have it, but the quality was exceptional. And I noticed another high quality ingredient that was better than what I had at home so I got it, too. Very impressed with the variety and quality of the produce department!

I went to the Safeway to specifically get buttermilk. I saw that the manager special on quarts of buttermilk so I grabbed a couple of those. In the self-checkout they did not ring up with a discount but run up as full price and I mentioned that to the lady who was there to help. First thing she said was, "Ew buttermilk! You drink that?" " I make buttermilk dressing." So she calls a manager and that manager informed her that they do not do managers special on Dairy. of course I said, "they did on this one and probably because they expire today." She marked them as buy one get one free which is actually $0.40 more than I would have paid. I paid and I went out to my truck frustrated and grab my cell phone to take a picture of the manager's tag. As I walked up to get the photo I encountered the lady who had said they do not do managers special. I startled her as I reached out to take a picture. It seemed like she was just going to take the tag off. She said,"oh you must be the person who got the buttermilk?" I said "yes, and I wanted to get a picture of the tag because I have never been as embarrassed as I have been by the way I was talked to by your person at the register." And then I left.

This is going to be an unusual "review". I want to start by thanking the folks who work at this Safeway for being so friendly all the time. I know it's their job, but the genuineness in which they ask if they can help is awesome. Beyond that, I wanted to cross-post my Facebook post, because I think it's helpful sometimes for people to remember just how much someone might be dealing with when you approach them and ask if they need help. It was such a quick question, and I smiled and said I had it. We both smiled and she went about her work. It helped me to feel seen. But here's the rest of the story... *** Grief is so weird... Flavia Wolfe has been gone six years this month (June 25, 2018). I stopped by a grocery store on the way to work on a total whim. I wanted hot sauce for my desk at work, I decided suddenly. I went through the store and on the way out, I paused. I realized that even six years later this grocery store, the closest one to our old rental house, the one we did most of our shopping at, it still feels heavy with a life I no longer have. Her memory saturates this whole block. There is a part of me that almost felt like I wasn't going to work, but going home around the corner to meet her and the little boys, who actually aren't little any more in reality. And then the moment passed by, faded. Tears resided. Grief never actually leaves, it changes form, morphs, becomes a part of who you are. One man in a widow chat tried to say that this was a sign I wasn't healed, he's wrong. That man has chosen not to actually do the hard work, pretending he's "moved on", and he will crash and burn. Or, he's a narcissist who has no genuine emotions. But likely the first. True healing isn't "never feeling it again". True healing is being allowed to feel it as it comes, feel it all the way through, and then process it and return to baseline. May we all have a moment to pause and remember. Then remember the good things about before, and the good things that came after. Place yourself back on the continuum of life. Selah Shalom Darrell G Wolfe

it's a fine grocery store with great deli & bakery departments, but the prices are extreme, even for members. likely won't go back.

Safeway has "for u" deals, that you need to scan to clip the deal BUT it rarely goes through to check out. One of the times I got help with it, the team member said it happens all the time. Double check your receipts. The team at this store is great, and the store is kept clean and organized.

On New Year’s Eve, December 31, I bought a duck and paid over $40. I tried to roast it, but it did not cook. I then boiled it for hours and it was still raw. It was not cooked at all. It looks like you blindly sell whatever you get without checking the product, the meat quality, or the vendor. The duck was probably very old. I had to throw it away, and it ruined the entire holiday.

I would give zero stars if I could. The pharmacy never answers their phone (I don't want to hear you're short staffed or you are busy). I called Customer Service to try to get someone to help me get through to the pharmacy and he said I need to call the pharmacy and hung up on me. I called back and spoke with an Assistant Manager, Robert, to complain about the poor customer service and short staff issues they have. He said he will do his "due diligence " to find out who was rude. Yeah, right. You pay your employees minimum wage. They have poor morale, terrible customer service and are lazy. What do you expect? At least have the decency to acknowledge you suck as a store!

If I could give a negative star it would be great! I showed up trying to get crab out of the case 10 minutes after closing 630pm . I could not get even a manager to help. I had an entire recipe that i needed this for. I was about to spend over 100 plus dollars and they flat refused to help me. I will NOT be going back. What a waste of time.

4 star grocery. Decent selection. Quality produce. Prices are higher but if you use their app and download digital coupons, it's not bad. Gas rewards are always a great perk!

One of the best locations in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. The customer service is excellent and the store is always well stocked. The clearance sections are organized and easy to browse. The produce, meat and deli items are high quality with a large variety to choose from. Overall this Safeway delivers a consistently great shopping experience. Highly recommended!
