Home Depot, you have a great employee. Her name is Naomi. She was working at the front desk. My daughter was picking up a mirror and shipping and receiving not one of those lazy boys would help her. Naomi left her service desk and put the mirror in the car for her. She put those shipping and receiving slackers to shame. She gets these five stars nobody else. All it takes is one redeeming employee and she is your shining star.

Had to run in and get a new Milwaukee Tool for my husband who was doing some work around the place. Unlike, my experience at other big box stores in town I found the staff to be extremely helpful. Got what I needed and out the door in under 15 minutes! Great job!

The HD employee I dealt with said I should write a review. So here it is. Called in to reserve a rental tool, two days in advance and, while on the phone asked that he confirm the tool was actually there. It was, and I made the reservation. Went in two days later to pick up on the reservation date, and a different employee said my tool wasn't there and "they never had it" to begin with. I said I called ahead and verified, and plus here it is on the store website .. and showed him the picture on my phone with the Champaign store set as my location. The employee said "I've been here 5 years and we don't have it." Then he bad-mouthed the employee he assumed I made the reservation with saying that guy is "lazy and should be fired". He suggested that "I could go over and look for the tool myself" which I did, and I found it easily. However, it had a note on it saying it needed repaired for "working only intermittently". The 5 year veteran employee finally came out on the floor and I asked if he could put gas in it and test it. Since I drove in from 40 min out of town and if it worked just "intermittently" I would try it for my small project. He refused to even test it saying he didn't want to upset me with a failing tool. He went back to sit at his computer to find my reservation and try to prove that I had been emailed a reservation confirmation and a notification of cancelation. I pulled out my phone and saw that I had no emails from HD and told him that. I said "since I'm already here what difference does it make anyway ..let's just focus on if this tool is truly not working?" He refused again and continued to talk poorly about his co-workers and saying the computer system should have worked. The disappointing part is this was the 5 year self-proclaimed rental dept expert .. better than his co-workers .. but he didn't even know they had the tool to begin with, and didnt want to do any work that pulled him from his chair. There was no line of customers behind me .. just me. He had time to test the product. He did try very hard though at arguing .. displacing blame .. and not getting out of his chair. Typical Big Box experience .. no wonder these companies are working so hard to find AI replacements. It can't be any worse than the unhappy, unmotivated, uncaring individuals they continue to churn out. I always try to shop locally owned when I can .. only possible way to maybe find somebody a little motivated to actually help. Sad thing is.... this 5 year HD veteran complains about the work ethic of our youth when it's him setting the worst possible example.

We ordered patio rocking chairs and a table to be delivered. We received emails that that the chairs were out for delivery. Eight hours later, we received another email telling us that our order was canceled. No reason was given. The next email told us that our table was out for delivery. When we called Home Depot to inquire about our canceled chair order, they told us that it was out of stock. When we tried to cancel the order for the table we no longer needed, we were told that there was no way to stop delivery. We would need to call Home Depot to pick have it picked up.

The paint department is A+++. They were super helpful, knowledgeable, and friendly. Reasonable prices. We had a far superior experience than when we’ve bought paint from the other big box stores. I won’t be buying paint anywhere else from now on!

I associate HD as the best. But the Champaign location is a match for Lowes and Menards on a good day. Staff are friendly and knowledgeable. Also, having to ask permission to use the bathroom is really bizarre. Can't believe I see comments here saying this has been the case at least 5 months?

Went to Home Depot for the very first time to get wall repair stuff and had an employee tell me to smile (even though I was??) and then when I went to the self checkout the guy managing it came up to me and did it for me and made me hand him all the stuff I was buying (mind you there were like three other men checking out on their own) then he wouldn’t stop asking me to get a Home Depot credit card after I had already said no. lol will not be returning… Lowe’s would never do this to me. 2 stars because I did get what I needed and it was easy to find.

Mr. Jim at the paint section is very knowledgeable and helpful. I went in to get some custom color-matched paint samples. The matched colors worked beautifully. It's nice to have an expert, especially when I have little experience with painting.

Champaign Il, rude LAZY checker. I’m 72 I left my reading glasses at home. I ask the young female if she could help me at check out. She scanned and walked away. Do better lazy all checkers were just standing around. I left the potting soil there. I will never go there again🤦🏼♀️

We got paint and the young man was very helpful and awesome!!! We need to get used to the new self checkout lanes. Needing a code to use the restroom was kind of a hassle otherwise it would have been 5 stars.

Employee assumed I was trying to steal a mailbox and physically blocked my path when I was just trying to get to a self-checkout. Made me feel profiled and unwelcome when all I did was walk in to spend money. Not sure if we’ll be back after this incident.

Michael W. was super nice and helpful and was able to remedy the problem, even though it was going to hold him past getting off work. Extremely professional, super courteous, and very helpful!

The first negative experience was when I asked an employee where mailboxes and house numbers were. He directed me to the wrong area. And he clearly didn't have a clue as to what he was doing. And we were closer to them than where he directed me. Then I went to the cabinet department, and the place was absolutely strewn with giant boxes, making it almost impossible to walk even without a cart. Third was when I went to the bathroom and there was no toilet paper in the men's room. This place has gone downhill horribly. When it first opened this place was wonderful. The management and the employees knew where things were and the place was tidy. This place is a dump. Absolute dumpster fire and I will never return. The place is overflowing with junk in the aisles so bad you can't move. The entire aisle in front of the paint department, was jammed with kitchen stoves and merchandise that should've been put in the department where it belonged.

I came to the store to price a screen door. They carry a few different options and are reasonably priced. I really like this particular store because of the friendly staff. They are very friendly at all Home Depot stores but somehow this one seems nicer. Definitely cleaner than most of any home improvement store I've visited. Unfortunately I forgot to bring my measurements lol. So I'll be back to purchase my new screen door.
