I frequently stop at AJ's to pick up things on my way home from the gym or to get gas, but today I took a trip over there specifically to buy some skirt steak from there butcher case. I've been planning to do so all week. Much to my dismay when I got there I realized they had raised the price of the meat by four dollars a pound!! I couldn't believe it! When I asked about it they tried to tell me it was because it was a special cut of meat. Skirt steak? i've never heard anything so ridiculous!! I told him that it was because it's a holiday weekend. He shrugged and laughed, but I didn't find anything funny about it at all. I didn't have a choice but to get it I did not have time to go anyplace else, but I will not shop at a place that price gouges like that, so I don't plan to go back.

Usually my favorite car wash but today the dry blower wasn't working and they say you don't get water spots on your car but of course you do so I had to come home and wipe down my whole car and clean the windows because there were water spots everywhere! Also, prices have gone way up and the cheapest price is now $11 and you're in there for about 2 minutes. And no dry blower! So really, is AJ's car wash now worth it? I don't think so. π

As far as the gas station and market go this place is cool. They have a nice selection of stuff that you can't find at a lot of stores, but it is a little pricey. The reason I'm giving it two stars is because if you order something at the kitchen they'll screw it up 99% of the time. They get my order wrong so often that I check it everytime before I leave. Today was the last straw though. I ordered two burgers dry and notice they have mayonnaise on them, so I take them back and ask it to be fixed. The guy gives me the bag again and all they did was wipe the mayonnaise off, and they took the onions off for some reason which I wanted. It was $20 for two burgers and fries and I couldn't even eat it since I'm allergic to mayonnaise.

Remodeled gas station snack hut becomes a little grocery complete with deli and good beer/wine selection. Food quality has been dropping off slowly but still one one of the only food/shopping choices in this neighborhood. For being such a small place it's impressive what they can churn out, not just sandwiches but gyros and fish and chips etc. If you're around it's a good choice but I can't see this being a food/shopping destination for anyone.

Neighborhood landmark. Great burgers and wraps. Very nice quality meat in the counter, and the prices of the grocery items are not any worse than the major chain grocery stores and often better quality. Love the new produce coolers outside and the great selection of fruits and vegetables.

Good fresh meat at the butcher's counter. The whole halal chicken and ground beef were clean and fresh. The staff was helpful. Highly recommend (though I wish the prices were a little cheaper).

This was a neat spot in years past - unfortunately ownership / mgmt was bizarrely adolescent, unprofessional and untrustworthy concerning car wash vehicle damage.., buyer beware

Paid for an express car wash, and I was severely disappointed. You are better off washing your car yourself. The bottom half of the car wasn't washed at all. Do not pay for a car wash here, you will be disappointed.

Convenient. Surprising. Wonderful. These are the words I would use to describe this establishment. The woman of my dreams and I were waiting two hours for a tow truck in the area and we happened to stumble across AJβs Chevron Mart & Car Wash. Walking in, I was amazed at the service provided. We got clean bathrooms, booze, and some delicious sandwiches all for a small price. The employee even offered his jumper cables to help jump our car. My woman and I walked out of there with two piping hot chicken sandwiches, a cheap bottle of white wine and a smile on our faces. We recommend this establishment to anyone in Aptos and anyone in the great state of California.

Hands down the best falafel wrap in town! Itβs perfectly crispy on the outside, soft and flavorful on the inside β you can tell they know what theyβre doing. They offer different spice levels, so if you like it hot like I do, youβll be thrilled with the kick. The side of hummus is so worth the 2 bucks β Iβd come back just for that alone! Love their grocery selection as well. Came for lunch walked away with my dinner grocery as well. Highly recommend AJβs!

Gave this place a shot as there's no touchless car washes in the area. Mediocre job at best. With the wait time I could've done a rinseless wash on my car at home. Sat in a line of 5 cars for over 45 minutes. What a complete waste of time. I've never seen a wait at an automatic car wash this long in my life. It sucks you aren't able to see the line prior to entering. Had I had an option to reverse or seen the line I'd have not entered. I'll be going home and cleaning my car the right way a little later today. For $30 you can get a gallon of ONR that'll last you for a year of washes at home and about 30 minutes of your time to wash your car. Also did something real crazy to my trim. Stained r to the point it's not fully removable. I'd avoid this wash at all costs of you have a nice car due to its acidic, extremely harsh chemicals

Great service from the kitchen staff here! The falafel was crispy on the outside and just right on the inside. Decided to try out the car wash as well as Iβve never done a touch-less car wash. Iβve read some complaints, but thought it was decent for $15.00 π€·π»ββοΈ Will be back next time Iβm in the Aptos area.

This is not your typical gas station market, and it's wonderful. The breakfast burritos are the best in town. I get one with beef chorizo. No potatoes. Add onions, peppers, and jalapeΓ±os. For only $6, it's a great deal, be sure to leave a tip. They've also got a good selection of freshly brewed coffee in the morning. Lots of fancy beers and health food as well as a pretty decent produce market. The butchers behind the counter are pleasant and cook the menu well. The woman working the register this morning was cheerful, made small talk easy, and handled the transaction quickly. If it's on your way to work, stop in and grab breakfast for a treat.

The two piece fish n chips here is $14.99, $18.99 for 3 pieces. Carpo's, an actual sit-down restaurant (not a gas station) a few minutes away, sells a 3 piece fish n chips for $15.30. I've had both and Carpo's is way better! If you're looking for a meal and you're not just looking for snacks definitely skip this place.

Update. We soooo wanted to love this place that we came back for another chicken shawarma. They failed again. Very little meat and the little meat was dry and hard like it was a few days old. Very disappointing, no management, no quality, all the possibilities in the world but this "shawarma" amounts to the most garbage burrito in Santa Cruz county. ππΌ Love this market and gas station and car wash and meat market but what I'm reviewing is their Chicken Shawarma wrap. If you don't know what that is think like a big middle eastern burrito. I liked their Shawarma but they rolled them all messed up and forgot the sauce entirely on one. There were two people making them so I don't know who is responsible but both were 80% veggies, no meat. As I was eating mine I thought "did they give me a vegetarian Shawarma? Is there even such a thing?" The veggies were really fresh and this one had sauce so I was still enjoying it then I got to the bottom 20% and BAM, all the chicken. The second one had the same terrible distribution and they forgot the sauce! So my conclusion is that this could be awesome unless the person making it totally messes it up. Maybe explain to them that you can add veggies and meat together along the entire length of the tortilla then roll it or maybe bring in an expert. We are blessed with many expert tortilla rollers in this area. β€οΈπ―π₯
