1000/10 Best Customer Service Experience I Ever Had With A Car Repair!! Otis and the team did an outstanding job. They communicate great, very punctual when it comes to repair updates and estimated dates of completing the task, prices are reasonable (nothing sketchy), they are transparent with prices, very friendly and warm environment. You can tell they genuinely care for the customer. They were able to make my car like new. I would definitely only be going to them for now on for repairs.

After multiple failed attempts to fix my Range Rover Sport HSE at other mechanic shops, I was referred to Whilby's Auto Repair in Waldorf by a coworker. Their thorough diagnostic revealed the need for a complete tune-up to resolve the issue. They promptly ordered the necessary parts and efficiently completed the job. While the cost was higher due to my vehicle's complexity, the quality of service and the successful repair made it worth it. I highly recommend Whilby's Auto Repair for any vehicle issues; they are true professionals. Thank you to the Whilby's team for their exceptional work. If I could give them more than 5 stars, I would!

Honesty goes a long way with me as a retired disabled Veteran. They were up front not pushy and gave me a long term plan on work to be done. I highly recommend Whiliby’s Auto Repair.

Whilby"s removed and replaced my front and rear bumpers with new ones, and they did an awesome job. I was truly impressed with the details and execution of professionalism. The work was completed in one day and I couldn't beat the price. The owner Otis is a very straight shooter, honest, and very understanding. Very good guy. Thanks Whilbys for a very satisfactory and outstanding job.

I had a terrible experience at Whilby's Auto Repair. I brought my car in for minimal bumper damage in the middle and was assured by the owner that it would be no problem to fix. Unfortunately, the work done was completely unacceptable. Upon picking up my car, I noticed that the color matching on the accent pieces was far from close to the original. The black trim around the accents was covered in white spray paint, and there were clumps of touch-up paint all over the panel, which had already started to peel off, exposing the bare panel underneath. Even worse, when the rear bumper was reinstalled, it was misaligned and didn’t match the way it looked when I dropped the car off. There was work done because the bumper now looks completely different. Additionally, there are numerous spots where black paint was smeared onto my white bumper. Despite paying $1059 for the initial "repair," I was told that fixing the issue they created would require another $800-$900, which seems ridiculous given how poorly the job was done in the first place. The owner did acknowledge the poor workmanship but stated that the only way to fix it now would be to build up a different panel and repaint it. At this point, I’m completely frustrated and feel like I wasted my money. I strongly advise against using Whilby’s Auto Repair if you value quality work and honest service.

I got 3 quotes to get my bumper repaired. There was a scratch under the headlight that needed repair. From all the places I went to they had the best value and service. I needed to schedule my repair for after a vacation trip and they worked with me throughout the process. This is my first time using their repair but it won't be the last the quality of the work was great the color matches perfectly on my 2022 seltos on top of that they completed the work a day early.

The staff was really nice and professional. My bumper hit an invisible concrete post and was left with a deep scratch. Otis and Mike immediately took my car in to begin work the next day. My baby looks brand new. Thank you guys for being professional and correcting this issue in a timely response.

My car was totaled due to age. Bought the pieces to put it back together (bumper, fender, etc). Needed a nice red paint job. Came across a flyer in my allergist office. Bought it to Whilby’s for an estimate. He gave me such a great deal that I could not say no. They also work with a finance company. Within a week, I had a nice red beautiful car. The bumper started peeling and had to bring it back. They fixed the problem right away, no questions asked. Explained what happened and insured me that it would not happen again. I was also missing a fog light from the accident. They told me to purchase the light and they will install it for me at no charge. Also offered to fix my car rims. The customer service is great and would highly recommend this place for body damage or mechanical issues. They also repaired my air conditioner.

Very professional, Otis was very helpful in getting me what I needed to have my car back the way that it was. Mike was also very professional and they both had good customer service skills. My repair time didn’t take long so I didn’t have to ask about my car.

I was driving and cut off on my way home on Christmas Day that had major damage to my left bumper, headlight, and hood of the passages side of my car. The other driver fault and agree to cover any damage. I was bless that it wasn’t more damage and to have the other driver with insurance and blame themselves for the incident. Anyway, i had research many body shops and came across Whilby’s Body shop a small business in Charles County, Md. They are awesome! Dropped my car off on Wednesday, December 27th, Mike who was thorough in the inspection of the damage provided a reasonable quote for the damage and timeframe for when the car would be ready. Let me tell, The Whilby’s Team did an amazing job with the repair and paint job and timing was on point as estimated when dropping it off. Especially, during the holidays. I was so pleased with them, I would give 10 out of 10 and highly recommend them to anyone. Great Service!

(ORIGINAL: March 2022) My family and I were involved in an accident during a snow storm earlier this year (2022). Due to every body shop being booked, I searched online and found Whilbys Auto Repair shop. The website appeared legit and had decent reviews; which is why I had to leave my own. My car had damage to its bumper and rear left headlight, there was also some body work to be done, and I was told it would take about 2 weeks. They told me they’d be in touch with my adjuster and contact me shortly. I gave them about 1 week and half before I decided to call again to check on my vehicles status. My phone calls went ignored for 2 days, until I eventually had to drive my rental to their shop. When I arrived I came across the Owner (Otis), we exchanged numbers and he told he’d would have the car ready in about 1 week. 1 month and 2 weeks AFTER my conversation with Otis, I received a call saying that the vehicle is ready. When I arrived: my battery was dead, I had no gas, and the ENTIRE inside of my car was covered in dust from sanding, and everything that was in my car at the time was carelessly thrown in my backseat. (Refer to pictures below) I had to jump my car, while one of the poured gas in my car since I had to leave the car running so the the battery wouldn’t die. I mean, it honestly felt like I was being pranked. Please look at my review history; I am NOT someone who goes out of there way to leave bad reviews. ***If you are considering this shop for ANY repairs, I respectfully suggest you reconsider. (EDITED: 09/21/2023) I called Otis with concerns about my bumper coming off every time I tried to go through a car wash or wash my car by hand. Otis assured me that a certain mechanic had been fired & would have no parts in repairing my vehicle this time around. I spoke with a gentlemen named Mike who was very thorough & eased my mind, as my previous experience was awful. This time around, was the exact opposite! Otis took my car back in & his team completed the repairs to my vehicle free of charge. I was given a week time-frame & received my car 3 days later. I can tell by the 2 walk-throughs I had of the inside that ALOT had changed. Those answering phone calls sounded more welcoming, the place looked cleaner, workflow was updated drastically & my car was turned in earlier than expected. I’ve never experienced such a dramatic change in my opinion about a business. For the record, Otis is very respectful & I never had an issue with the way he treated me personally, it was his previous team I had an issue with. It is clear he has a much better supporting cast now, & I would highly recommend Whilbys’ going forward. Thank you Otis, Mike & team 👍🏼

UPDATE: While I appreciate your PUBLIC apology (which is more than I recieved in your presence), I want to point out that it is a gaslight. You fixed damage that YOU caused. Why would I be charged for that? I provided you with the way to remedy the situation and you declined. The engine, which you broke then replaced, is faulty. You have ruined my Cadillac. I cannot drive my vehicle, nor your excuses, to work. The only thing that gets them a 1 star rating is their body work and the ladies he has running his front desk. I'm honestly super sad to write this review because I had such high hopes. I am an avid supporter of small businesses that support our community and honestly just want them to do better. I absolutely do not recommend Whilby’s Auto Repair. I brought my car in on March 22, 2025 for a transmission issue. What was supposed to be a straightforward repair turned into a nearly two-month nightmare. The mechanic cracked my engine during the repair, then broke a connection while installing the replacement, and damaged my steering column during another fix. Every time I was told the car was ready, something else had gone wrong—caused by the shop. I had to rent cars and use rideshares just to get to work and take care of my family. I spent over $602.84 on transportation because they kept delaying the job. When I finally picked up my vehicle on May 31, there was a 7-inch crack in the windshield, the interior was filthy, my personal items were moved around, and there were random MDOT papers inside that weren’t mine (photos below - I removed the PII b/c I'm not petty). Otis refused to reimburse me for any of the expenses. To top it off, the check engine light came back on (which he said it would) due to a valve leak, and I was told I’d need additional repairs. I refused further service and am now taking the car to a certified dealer. Whilby’s also left me with a $686+ windshield repair cost. Unacceptable service, poor communication, and zero accountability. I do not trust this shop and strongly advise others to take their vehicles elsewhere.

Wilby's painted a sports car for me. Did an excellent job with a small but difficult car (Porsche). Most other shops in Charles County would not touch it. Would recommend them and will use them for other auto work.

I am extremely dissatisfied with my experience at Whilbys Auto Repair in Waldorf, MD. In my experience, an engine replacement that should have taken a reasonable amount of time ended up taking over three months to complete. A major issue throughout this process was poor communication between the shop and my warranty company, which significantly delayed approval and progress. I repeatedly followed up, but updates were inconsistent and unclear. About a month after my warranty company had already paid for the work, I was told by an employee that the shop was experiencing financial issues, and that this was contributing to the delay in completing my vehicle. During this extended period, my car was being held at the shop, and I continued to incur additional transportation costs, on top of still having to pay my car note and insurance. At no point was an apology offered, nor was any form of compensation, discount, or goodwill service extended to acknowledge the inconvenience and financial burden caused by the prolonged delay. This was a very stressful and costly experience for me, and based on how this situation was handled, I would not recommend this shop to anyone who values timely service, clear communication, and professional accountability.

We brought our 2008 Ford Explorer Sport Trac to Whilby’s Auto Repair for what started as a brake issue. What followed was nearly a month of delays, incorrect parts, poor workmanship, and refusal to take responsibility. We were given an estimate and authorized repairs, paying a total of $2,100 to Whilby’s. From the beginning, parts were repeatedly ordered incorrectly, timelines were missed, and communication was inconsistent. At one point we were told work was complete, only to arrive and find the vehicle still undriveable. After multiple axle installs (three total), incorrect wheel speed sensors, and repeated disassembly of the front end, the truck was returned to us with ABS, traction control, and powertrain warning lights on, clicking noises underneath, and drivability issues that did not exist when we brought it in. Whilby’s then claimed the ABS module was bad and wanted us to pay for it, despite the fact that the vehicle had no ABS issues prior to their repairs. We refused and took the truck to Waldorf Ford for proper diagnostics. Waldorf Ford confirmed damage caused by incorrect parts and improper installation, including: Wrong wheel speed sensor Damaged wheel bearing and tone ring Axle seal not replaced during axle installation We paid $1,204.93 out of pocket to fix damage caused by Whilby’s work. When we presented the bill, Whilby’s refused to reimburse us and offered only about $400. Between the money spent, the stress, and being without our vehicle for nearly a month, this was an extremely frustrating and costly experience. If you value accurate diagnostics, proper repairs, and accountability, I would strongly suggest taking your vehicle elsewhere. How much does Otis stand by his work and the work of his employees? He chose not to show up in court to answer any of our allegations. The court granted us a judgement against Whilby's and Otis Tucker.
