Do NOT rent from this company. While driving through the mountains, our rental began leaking brake fluid and became inoperable. We called Hertz emergency roadside assistance and we were informed that a tow truck and replacement vehicle were coming - we did not have cell service where the vehicle broke down and a note was made about that in our file (“customer will not have cell service”). We waited for FIVE hours for a tow truck and replacement vehicle that never came. After getting a ride to an area with cell reception, we were informed that our tow had been cancelled and that there was no replacement vehicle coming. We had to reschedule a tow and after finally making it to Hertz to get a replacement vehicle, we were charged $700 for the tow. Hertz refused to honor their contractual agreement which covers tows in the event of a mechanical issue despite being ensured that we would not be responsible for the expense of the tow.

Not a great experience with Hertz. I usually go to Enterprise for car rentals but since it was the week before memorial day weekend they were booked out so we went to Hertz. We did our reservation online the night before scheduled pick-up, then when they opened we called them first thing to make sure they had received the reservation since our reservation wasn't confirmed and they never sent us an email. They confirmed the reservation and we headed there. When we got there they said they check your credit before renting out the vehicle, which I have never heard of before. Must be a new thing? Not sure. They said due to our lower credit they wouldn't rent to us without a major credit card which we don't have. This was all after they asked for a $500 deposit as well. Needless to say we didn't rent from them. We will use enterprise for now on. Side note: They did have good customer service and apologized several times. I just wish they would've told us this over the phone so we didn't waste our time.

Everything was set up through my insurance and the guy lied right to my face about not having anything set up. If you didn't want to rent me a car you should have been a man about it and said that. That's discrimination and I will be handling it with a lawyer..

Made a reservation for Noon! Got there at noon and my car wasnt available til after 3! Was pressed for time and had no way to work so wasted $30 on an uber and not even given an apology from the manager for the inconvenience! Worst experience and never booking again! The manager looked at me as if it was my fault!

I had a really good experience with this Hertz Location. I was rear ended and was able to rent through them while my car was in the shop. The team was super helpful with all my questions and even allowed me to drop my rental off at the body shop when I was ready to get my car back. Pretty slick. I mainly worked with Lisa - she was extremely informative and I appreciated her kindness!

Always a super good experience! I honestly recommend them. James has been there to make sure all my travels with Hertz vehicles will be pleasant. Another associate, I apologize for my memory , is very friendly & efficient as well. This person was working when I returned the car on 9/18/24. 😊 The vehicles have consistently been spot on in maintenance,cleanliness, and pricing. I appreciate this business.

I had made a reservation with Hertz to get to Louis airport for my flight. Unfortunately, just an hour before my scheduled pick-up, they called me to inform me that they didn't have any cars available. Feeling frustrated, I decided to try another website, where I found that they had three cars listed as available. I proceeded with the booking which went through and a confirmation was sent to me. However, when I arrived at the Hertz location, they once again informed me that they didn't have any cars for me. Their explanation, that a reservation doesn't guarantee a vehicle, seemed illogical and confusing. As someone who travels frequently, I expressed my disappointment to the employee, stating that I had never experienced such a situation before. The employee, who claimed to have years of experience, reiterated that a reservation doesn't guarantee a car. Thankfully, there was an Enterprise branch nearby. The staff at Enterprise were understanding of my predicament and quickly provided me with a vehicle. I strongly advise against going to the Hertz location mentioned in this incident and suggest opting for Enterprise instead. Without their assistance, I might have missed my flight due to the shortcomings of Hertz.

Made reservation online. When I arrived they did not have a car for me. False advertising. Double booking like airlines do. I did not expect the exact car Reserved but I expected a car.

Every time I rent my car from Hertz , they never have a car or if you choose to supply choice. The manager will give you small car or big car like a truck. That way we couldn’t take it any car and the manager is not good over there. he does not want to do business with hertz He told me don’t rent from hertz even he told me. I don’t care about customer. Please don’t Go hertz thank you people I am saving you from these

I’ve been here several times and usually have good experiences. I rented from Thrifty this time, returned the car clean as I always do. I hadn’t even driven the car yet the teller said the car “reeked of marijuanna”. I was charged $1,000. I can’t even smoked for medical reasons but hey it’s my word against there’s right. Well they just lost a long time customer.

Subject: Complaint Regarding Poor Service at Hertz Morrissey Ave, Bloomington – Manager Mr. James Dear Hertz Customer Service, I am writing to formally express my dissatisfaction with the service I recently received at your Hertz Morrissey Ave, Bloomington,IL branch. I have been a loyal Hertz customer for over 20 years, but unfortunately, my recent experience has been the most disappointing one yet. During my visit, I encountered significant issues with the manager, Mr. James. Despite the availability of several vehicles at the location, he refused to allow me to switch to a different car that would better suit my needs. His behavior was not only unhelpful but also extremely rude and dismissive. The way he spoke to me lacked basic courtesy and respect, which was both surprising and upsetting. Due to his unprofessional conduct, I felt compelled to terminate a multi-week rental contract within just one week. This situation caused me considerable inconvenience and frustration. I trust Hertz values customer loyalty and high standards of service. I hope you will take this feedback seriously and investigate the conduct at this location, particularly the actions of Mr. James. Pick up was great. When trying to extend I was overcharged and when bringing the situation to them the person was very rude and hostile. It was one of the most uncomfortable conversation I’ve ever had with someone.

The one guy was ok but James was horribly rude! We tried to rent a car with a debit card and they had my name spelled wrong so the soft credit check failed. I called corporate and they tried with the correct spelling and said to go back in to the branch. When I called the branch back James refused to run the credit check again. We went back in about 30 minutes later and saw the car was still there and James basically said nothing was available, that they were out of cars. Yet there were many cars in the parking lot. When I discussed putting another reservation and there were cars available he reiterated they were out of cars and were closing soon and couldn't do anything about it until Monday! Absolutely ridiculous and there are many reviews about how awful this branch is!

Rude, unprofessional, and flat-out disappointing. My experience with the Hertz location in Bloomington, IL was frustrating from the very first phone call. The manager literally laughed at me when I called with a question—completely unhelpful and dismissive. I was hoping things would improve when I went in to pick up the rental, but unfortunately, the attitude didn’t change. Same rudeness, same lack of professionalism. I expect better—especially from a company that deals with customers daily. The lack of basic courtesy and respect was honestly shocking. I’ll be taking my business elsewhere from now on. If you're looking for good service, I recommend you do the same.

I can't believe the negative reviews about this location. I've been renting from here for many, many years and the service has always been excellent. Follow Hertz's procedures for renting (it's important!!), and these guys will take care of you. I'm a satisfied customer.

Terrible!! No vehicle selection the one we got had dongs and scrapes all over and paint splashed on the side unbelievable and no help! Stay away! Further more they had me call airport and they say they have no other vehicles! Terrible service been booked for a week to for this garbage! Also the paint wasn't paint is was sticky goo that just needed cleaned off! But they couldn't even do that! Also must have also been that stinky cigarette smoke in the car also !! This is unacceptable! And don't bother with customer support they do not have any people that answer!!
