It is what it is...prices higher than Walmart, but sometimes it is just more convenient than going to the big store. Most DGs, like this one, could use regular cleaning. Pretty dirty, and carts of product and/or empty cardboard sitting in the middle of aisles.

It was ok other than when we laid a cloth bag ON TOP OF the stuff we were buying, the girl took the stuff out from under the bag and put it into two plastic bags. The same thing happened at another store we had came from before we went to DG. I don't understand what why it's so hard to figure that out.

I love DG anywhere I go but this location was messy. There was stuff scattered everywhere and a lot of it didn't even have a price on the shelf. I still love DG but I need the employees that work here to love it just as much.

The store is clean, well organized. There is some merchandise being placed in the aisles. Not a lot of staff, I would say. The lady is not friendly. I didn't see a lot of christmas stuff. weird

This is the worst dollar general. It looks like the apocalypse in there. Stuff pulled off shelves, things sitting on the floor all over the store, nothing organized. Whoever manages this store does not hire enough staff... I went one Saturday morning and they had one person working. Because someone came in to get 30 balloons filled no one else could be helped until she filled the balloons. The poor associate needed help.

The last 2 times I stopped at iowa city dollar general it was CASH sales only, excuse was software update or card reader not working. Shelves not stocked boxes and carts of unpacked items in the isles. When able to shop prices were better than Walmart for cat food, coffee, toliet paper and personal supplies. Need to get organized!!

Some great prices on some items that are just as good as what you'll get anywhere else, but wow what a mess... Whoever manages this location needs to start doing some actual managing. The state of disarray reminds me of the ridiculously overstocked and understaffed Petco I worked at a long time ago, except I don't know if anyone's even trying to do anything about the clutter here. I've seen much tidier Dollar General locations in other parts of Iowa and regional management needs to step in since I doubt what's been going on at this store lately can be very good for anyone's image of the chain as a whole.

This is the grossest store I've ever been in my life. It's literally like it's never been cleaned. None of the stuff on the shelf is pulled forward. Every aisle has inventory on the ground for some reason. Dark gross, yellow lighting. In the corner is a mess of extra inventory. The store looks like it's been ransacked from an apocalypse. Cheap prices though.

The staff is rude and usually is discussing personal business when you come into the store. The aisles are crowded and the store is usually filthy and unorganized. I was there just last week and one of the cashiers was very racist towards me. I went to pay for my items and before I could give her my card, she said "Let me guess, EBT? I said no and then she went on to say, " Oh wait, credit right?" I said "hell no, I'm paying with my debit card." The rest of the time spent in check out was quiet and awkward.

Items in the wrong spots all the time, so I think it should be one price and it rings up another. I don't always look at the tiny shelf sticker and that is my fault. But still very frustrating. Cashier is always on her cell texting. Looking lines most of the time. It's just so convenient to stop on my way home!

PICKUP ORDERS- just don’t waste your time. They will cancel your order with no explanation. The items aren’t out of stock, the employees simply don’t feel like filling your order so they cancel it instead.

I had to give at least 1 star to save this, but I am really giving zero stars!! It was a DUMP!! I love Dollar General stores, but this was beyond dirty and cluttered!! Also found what I wanted but the clearance sale had ended the day before. All signs were still up, clerk did not honor it, even though there were at least 6 signs around the aisles.

I feel the store is very messy and filthy because the staff show they hate their employment and just dont show much care for customer. The store everything is just laying in aisles where cannot really get around very easily. I feel the staff regardless if they like their job or not to show 100% respect to their employer and customers by being upbeat and helpful to customer by showing them to what they are looking for. The endcaps are so full and set if you take out 1 item the rest would fall on them. I feel if make the store stay clean and appear so customer have positive experience and clean restroom facilities.

Need to place items with correct prices. Their elderly gentleman cashier held up the line from talking so much to each customer. What should have been an in and out experience, ended up being 20 25 min because of having to go back and find right item to right price then go back t the end of the line

Boxes of cereal we purchased there had clear evidence that mice ate through them. Nobody ever seems to be working at this store. You guys gotta do better, this is nuts. Will need a refund or something, or to exchange these mice soiled cereals with new ones. Respond to this asap or I will escalate it.

I had a wonderful experience at the Iowa City store on 12/16. As I was leaving the store, I had left behind a bag unknowingly. The young woman cashier working this afternoon ran out to bring it to me as I was getting into my car. You are lucky to have such kind employees working for you!

I feel bad that people are giving this place a bad rap and I can't understand why it has 3.7 overall. The store is great and has so many items it's kind of mind-boggling how many products they actually have I'll have to Ill after aisle and the prices are not bad and the help of employees are very friendly. I'm not sure what the hell you people expect from a dollar store but I suggest you reevaluate your reviews people don't understand how hurtful it can be to a business...

People were really nice and helpful. However we got there too late to get much closeout stuff,but what we got was nice. I love your store's so I wish you hadn't closed it 😔but happy the associates have other store's to go to 😊
