We went into the store last night to buy a lighted Christmas tree they had in their flyer for $69.99, it was a “slim Jasper fir”. This morning we realized they had given us some kind of Canadian fir, so loaded it back up and went back to store this morning. Showed them the flyer, told them they had this tree we wanted on the floor and we would take it if it was the only one. They argued with me, saying they didn’t get their shipment in and the tree we got was substituted for the Jasper fir. Their prices and trees were mixed up last night and they refused to honor the tree and price in their flyer....false advertising and tricky bad customer service. Won’t be going back....ever!

I have price checked Chico True Value against Ace Hardware 5 times now & True Value was lower every time & not by a little they were significantly lower every time plus their customer service can't be beat! It's nice to have a family owned hardware store on North end of town.

It was nice, clean store. .the prices on some items seemed a bit higher than some other hardware stores, a bit disappointing. Not super higher, but enough to make me take notice of prices being higher.... So I did not purchase some items I'd wanted to , knowing I'd just have to stop somewhere else to get the items at lower price.

I am always greeted upon entering with friendly welcome. The staff are incredibly helpful and knowledgeable and help me find everything I need at the hardware store. I will defiantly be coming back for all my future purchases!

Two occurrences of wanting to purchase an item based on price at the hanger only to get rung up for a price 2 to 4 times higher at the register. The plumbing sections are completely out of sink. To purchase pvc fittings, pipe or sprinklers you have to go to different isles in different sections, very cumbersome. The worker bees are very friendly however, management may want to look at themselves. Maybe the new Ace store will be better.

Nice staff, very VERY clean store. They were very busy when I went in but I still was able to find an employee to assist me quickly. They were surprisingly affordable and I finally didn't have to spend an hour driving all the way to a big box store to wander around for 30 min trying to find an employee to help me.

I came in looking for a good plunger to unplug my bathroom sink. And Alex was so helpful and recommended some amazing liquid solution( forgot the name ill post it later)but it worked in seconds, and he told me what not to do as a safety precaution . Definitely recommended this True value..Very happy customer

I have an elderly small dog. I carry her in a backpack when I'm shopping because I won't leave her in the car in the heat. I was shopping for a fan and the manager told me they don't allow backpacks in the store. I explained the dog and he said he didn't care. I was actually looking at the fan I was going to buy and told him "I'm not a thief. Do you want to sell a fan or not?" Again he said he didn't care so I took my business across the street to Ace, where they were very polite and helpful and you should take your business there too.

Update 6/9/2023: After my experiences with this store, I would not recommend them. But they may have the products you need. So you can give them a chance and decide for yourself. 3/01/23: I made an online order and pickup in store from True Value's competitor across the street. I mistakenly went to True Value. This review is for what happened once I was in True Value. The customer service was lacking. I felt some of the dialogue from True Value's employees was out of touch with the situation. As I was leaving the store, one of the employees made fun of me and said "whoops," which was dismissive and utterly poor customer service. Maybe it was intended in good jest, but the employees failed to establish a good rapport with me at any point. So for them to make jokes on my way out of the store was ill-timed and not well received. A more professional way to handle the situation would have been to say that "Ace Hardware is across the street. Sometimes people mix up the locations. It's not a problem. Hope you come back again." But that's not how it was handled. The employees came off as disinterested, pre-occupied, unhelpful. I'm not sure who the manager was, but there was a woman in the office who seemed too pre-occupied to provide customer service. When one of the other two male employees asked a question about my pickup order, the woman seemed confused or displeased with the situation.

I am a small business owner and wanted to browse around a bit,didn't have anything I particular that I wanted but planned to spend at least a hundred dollars possibly more. I am all for supporting the smaller local businesses but I was disturbed to say the least that I was profiled do to my ethnicity (black).The moment I walked in I was followed by two different employees and when I asked one of the men why he responded "I don't trust your type so buy something now or go somewhere else"!! I was in shock literally to be treated like this in the town I grew up in!!.... Not cool,not professional, not a place I will recommend to anyone..I guess you have to be white to get good service......

Convenient, but over priced on pretty much everything.........I decided to alter my review a tad ...I gave 4 stars from 3. Ultimately I was trying to make a point that this store is very convenient! I've been in a good number of times for odds and ends, and I find that it happens to be a little pricier on almost anything I've gotten there. But not out of control pricey... Probably worth the difference in gas I would spend going all the way out to Lowe's or Home Depot... The people who work there are very nice and eager to help.... Regardless of how I feel about the prices, I still shop there

Not as varied a selection as the late, great Collides Hardware but getting there. Knowledgeable friendly, staff, even the younger employees. If they don't have it they will order it. Can't ask for much more than that. My new go to hardware store.
