Got a car wash at Castro Car Wash based off of the great reviews on Yelp. Unfortunately, I can't say I had the same experience. TLDR: Rags used will scratch the interior of your car, beware of workers who are not professionals washing your car. Initial service was great - the friendly lady behind the counter provided a helpful overview for services provided and pricing breakdown, and I was informed the car would be ready in under an hour. However, both major and minor problems arose as soon as I was informed the car was ready. 1. Upon initial inspection, the exterior wash was dried poorly - countless rag streaks decorated the windows, hood and doors. 2. Bumper had not been properly cleaned (including dead bugs that were still clearly visible). 3. (This is a big one) There appeared to be a car service worker under the influence working on my car - I'd initially noticed he was largely responsible for the dirty rag streaks and asked him to use a new rag / apply more cleaning solution. As he stood, he literally fell over on his side, dropping everything he held. I called for help out of concern for his health, and very quickly the counter lady and another professional ran over. Here's where things really go off the rails - the intoxicated worker proceeds to engage in a shouting match with the lady and professional who came to help as other employees restrain the intoxicated worker and place cash in his hands in attempts to de-escalate the situation. After 5-10 minutes of this, during of which I'm standing to the side in bewilderment (the language spoken was not familiar), the other workers finally get the intoxicated worker to leave. Not one word of apology or explanation was provided. I left soon after. 4. As mentioned above, their rags unfortunately scratched most interior plastic surfaces in my car (see photos), including my central console & dashboard. It's a new car (2000 miles) so these were immediately noticeable. All in all, this was a very negative experience and I'm unsure if I'll return. I'm providing two stars in this review as they otherwise did a good job cleaning the interior of my car.

They use dirty wash cloths and dirty water. Your car will end up filled with micro scratches. Better options elsewhere.

Went for car wash. Had to leave tesla key but warned them not to lose it or mix it up with other teslas that were there. Ofc they gave me the wrong key when I went to pick the car and couldn’t find the correct one. No apologies, no refund.

Decent cleaning job but uper expensive to begin. They also took out my back mat to clean and lost it in the process. Cost me another $100 to replace. Chased them for reimbursement and they completely ghosted me. Never going back.

Hand washing only. I prefer this as my car has ski racks. They do an excellent job and are pretty fast compared to the alternatives around SF and Daly City. Plus the staff is super chill but hard working.

I was on time for the reservations that I made for Castro Car Wash on Booksy for 4-4:30 PM for a simple car wash with interior vacuum. This was basic. According to the manager behind the counter, Booksy did not send the reservation to them. The manager took my payment first and then told me that there were two cars ahead of mine and that the car would be ready in 45 minutes. I told her that I wished she had told me that before because I would have left. If I’m on time for an appointment I expect the business to know their schedule and be on time. The car was ready at 5:00 PM. However, when I reviewed the car. There was still bug splatter on the front of grill, hood, headlights, and below the grill. Additionally, the rear tire rims had a thick coating of black brake dust. I was forced to walk the car to point out where the car needed to still be cleaned to a minimum standard. This is a poorly run business. I cannot recommend Castro Car Wash, and I will not be back.

Hand washing - and they do a great job! Amina is charge, and runs the place brilliantly, with excellent results. Won't find a better wash for the money anywhere in San Francisco.

I was hesitant to purchase the full deal at $350.00, the clerk worked with me to find a better service and price. I'm really happy with the semi-detailing. They even looked over it with us and took the time to hit little spots we cought. Definitely going here again.

It was a quick service (~30-40) for a regular interior and exterior standard wash. They went over their detailing service and did look inside my car when I first arrived, but that is normal business to push more expensive services and I understand why they want to look inside first since someone can have lots of trash/crumbs everywhere which would make them work more. I could see some marks from the products they use, but I am not upset because I think that is normal. But if you are looking for a regular wash at a good price, this is a place to check out. Everyone was respectful. You can wait inside or you can walk around the Castro while you wait.

Recently had the worst car wash of my life here. Last time I went, they scratched up the top of my car, and they won’t take responsibility to fix the situation. After reviewing the car's dashcam, I'm guessing it was from the jewelry on the guy's hand who washed the car. Prior to this, I had been exclusively having my regular car washes done at Castro Car Wash, since they're the only hand wash near me. Also the reviews about bait-and-switch pricing and aggressive upselling are true. One time I had a tiny bit of cat hair on the back seat. So they tried to argue I had to pay for an entire detailing package, because the “cat hair alone would take an hour to remove”. After a bit of back and forth, they agreed to do a regular wash. And after I paid, waited for my turn, and picked up my dried car, the entire process was 40 minutes and the cat hair was easily removed. Anyway, this car wash is a scam. The exterior wash only was a good deal, but if your car gets scratched up, then it’s not worth it.

I’ve given this place multiple chances, but the experience is always the same. Regardless of how clean my car comes out, the female attendant at the cash register seems far more interested in her phone than in providing customer service. On top of that, every visit includes a pushy upsell, even when my vehicle clearly doesn’t need the extra services. It makes the whole experience frustrating and unprofessional. A car wash should be about care and attention, not making customers feel ignored or pressured.

Major scam! We were refused the basic clean as our car was “too dirty” and told we had to pay $150. We drove away and went to another car wash which happily did our interior and exterior for $50.

Not at all worth the price. For $200 and over an hour wait I expect a certain level of detail that simply isn't there. And this is after they did a hard upsell from the $75 package. Honestly I could have replicated the interior results with 20 minutes and a handful of quarters at the car vacuum. There are crumbs still left in all the seat crevices and milk splotches (I have two young kids that make most of the mess but it wasn't a disaster). Tower car wash does a better job at a quarter of the price.

Cleans are fine enough. Echoing what others are saying about the nonsensical pricing structure. Had some sand in the back, was told I needed $220 full detail. Took it to Towers car wash 8 minutes away got it done for $45. Also- they add an 8% service fee that isn’t communicated verbally or in writing before paying and aren’t able to articulate what the purpose is. I only come here with my bosses cars because it’s convenient.

I recently paid $200 for a detailing service at this car wash, and I am extremely disappointed with the results. The quality of the wash was horrendous, both inside and out. The exterior still had visible dirt, and the interior was left looking worse than before, with stains and smudges that weren't there prior. It seems like they just used dirty rags to wipe down the interior, spreading the grime around rather than cleaning it. For the high price they charge, I expected a thorough and professional job, but what I got was far from it. I do not recommend this place if you're looking for quality detailing.

The best hand car wash. And I never have to wait long for my turn. They let me sit in the car each time too which is great. The workers clean every spot. Not me, but I’ve seen people get super ocd about small places that need extra cleaning and the workers cater to their needs.

They did a great job with my car and they were really fast; I got a basic exterior/interior wash, 45 usd.

I’ve given this place three tries now and every time it’s been the same song and dance- I ask for a simple interior and exterior wash and the female attendant tries to upsell me to a detailing. After a back and forth of me saying no no no and her coming up with excuses as to why I should pay for the detailing (the pressure is so obnoxious) I get just the basic interior exterior, and her customer service drops to zero. Doesn’t even look my way after the bill is paid. Mind you, it’s already an overpriced car wash at baseline, but the location is super convenient so I’m usually willing to put up with her rudeness. Well today I went in and said I think I’ll get a detailing- and she was ecstatic. After a moment reviewing the outrageous price I reneged and said actually it’s too expensive, just a normal interior and exterior wash please- to which she then refused! She made up some excuse that because I had some dog hair she wouldn’t let me get a BASIC interior cleaning (see attached pic for reference- basically a sprinkling of dog hair). This didn’t seem to be an issue the last two times! Apparently the loss of her upsell made her vindictive and petty, and she flat out said I also couldn’t even get any of the add ons with my exterior car wash. It was a basic exterior wash or full detailing, nothing in between. So add petty and vindictive to obnoxious and upsell-obsessed to her profile. I tipped the two cleaners in cash on top of my tip on my card and took a last look in the rear view mirror as I drove away. Save your money and your energy, get your car washed somewhere where the customer service is worth the up charge. Second star only because the actual employees washing the cars are friendly and efficient.
