I have rented from Hertz New Haven three times in the last three months. Each time has been an easy and seamless process. The staff is welcoming and polite. The cars are clean and dependable. I appreciate their customer service. I will be using them again.

Hertz is terrible and unresponsive, the car was disgusting on the inside and undercharged by 50% what it said on the rental receipt and now are trying to charge my card for the superchargers when the have a 200$ hold on my cc maxing it out I call the branch because Customer service for corporate can’t do anything, and the phone just rings and rings and rings. I will definitely never be renting from this location ever again And probably never renting from Hertz ever again Unless this is rectified, I work in customer service In my company, would never do something like this Especially when they tend to advertise about gold standards in cleanliness

First off Raul should not be employed here. I did not like his attitude or demeanor. The other older lady was very sweet and gladly finished my transaction when I requested. The wait time was pretty long to even talk with someone even if you have a reservation.. I rented a car, the car is okay, however it smells like marijuana. I am constantly having to drive with the windows down because the smell is so bad and I don’t want anyone to think the smell is coming from me. The car was not properly clean prior to my arrival and because I was in such a rush I had to simply take it and leave. I mean for the price I can’t be upset. Overall a poor experience but I would certainly rent here again because of the price point.

Had the worst experience ever with these people. They rented me a car that had almost 80000 miles on it that was fresh from the mechanic shop. Door was making some crazy sounds every time I opened and closed it. I was in such a rush and they had no more SUVs which was the only reason I rented the vehicle. The detail was horrible and the ride was super jerky and for some reason the car was setup in a way where you couldn't exceed 80mph. But the best part is as I was getting ready to return the vehicle, I stopped at a gas station to fill up the tank because it was a little under half. Pump kept stopping after 2 seconds as if the tank was already full. Could have been the car or pump who knows. But after filling for 5 minutes, I finally get in the car try to start the car and the engine stalls. Long story short called Hertz roadside assistance and remained on the phone for about 20 minutes, and nobody answered. I finally hung up after eventually getting the car to start after... 20 minutes. Took the car back only to find out that they don't have a drop box for the keys and the Hertz was closed. So now I will be charged an extra day even though if that stupid ordeal didn't take place, I would have made it on time. On top of that I ended up missing to Metro North trains to New York which effectively made me late for work. Also, I don't know which manager it is, but she is very rude! Ended up hanging up the phone on me because she was upset that I was upset about my terrible experience with a piece of crap vehicle they lent me. I've never had any issues with any other rental company in my life and I rented a lot of vehicles. This was my first time renting with Hertz and will surely be my last! I DO NOT RECOMMEND!

some people should not work in customer service. Hertz forgot to close my contract and overcharged me $1800 for a $66 payment. when speaking with the lady the first day, she said she was gonna investigate, and I felt ok. When calling back one of the guys there asked me why am I calling back? She is working on it. how rude can you be? What do you mean why am I calling back? How are you mad at the person that is out of $1800! Make it make sense! No Some business do not care after their customers just the customers money!

As a Lyft driver, I recently returned a rental vehicle to this Hertz location that had minor damage, which I had already reported to the police, Lyft, and Hertz. When I asked a few polite questions about the return process, the front desk employee responded with unnecessary aggression—raising his voice and treating me with complete disrespect. At one point, he even told me to “shut up and asked me to sit down” while I calmly reminded him that the cameras were recording and I hadn’t said anything inappropriate and I told him that I have nothing personal with you I’m a customer and I have to ask many questions to understand the situation. It was a very disappointing and unprofessional experience. I’ve already reported the incident, including the employee’s name and ID, to Hertz customer support. On a positive note, the women working there were respectful and courteous. I advise others to be cautious when dealing with staff at this location.

Our Hertz reserved rental location is listed as 50 Union Ave, the Amtrak station in New Haven, CT where we arrived to find NO Hertz office. It is not located there! The Hertz chat bot gave us the wrong information too, and finally an Amtrak customer service rep helped us with a phone number to contact the local office 15 minutes away. and wait to get to the correct location. We are in our late 70s and have never had a more difficult or deceptive rental car experience. The fault is at the corporate level - the local office stated they have repeatedly requested that corporate fix the online misinformation.

Worst customer service. If someone is new to this place they don’t even care to explain how everything works and they simply charge extra. Don’t trust this person I will simply add insurance without asking without explaining what kind of insurance they got and about tolls I got bill of 300$ change when I ask them they simply telling call customer service. I rent cars very frequently I had almost 6-8 rentals from this location. Every time I rent I had worst experience. There is one old lady she is the only person who cares about customers and rest of them are all ways in Phone. I even raised a complaint on this location but Hertz doesn’t care about my complaint.

Disappointed by Sudden Price Surge and Poor Service Me and my friend walked into Hertz today planning to rent a car, and within just 5 minutes, the prices for every car on the lot jumped by nearly $50. I had been discussing options with the staff, and suddenly the rates changed while I was still waiting—without any explanation. It felt like a bait-and-switch tactic, especially when you’re already in the middle of the process. On top of that, the wait time was unreasonable, and the overall customer service experience was frustrating and unhelpful. If you’re going to adjust prices, at least be transparent about it and honor the rates shown when a customer first walks in. This kind of practice damages trust and discourages walk-in customers from ever returning

I don't know about all these bad reviews! I had a very pleasant experience! They gave me a 2025 Hyundai SantaFe! Loved it! Clean and smooth vehicle the girls were all nice and polite. I just returned my rental and it was smooth! I definitely recommend!

They wrongly charged us $43.81 plus tax and then told us it would take 6 to 8 weeks to check and fix it. The only one star is for the Philadelphia branch that gave us a nice clean new car. We dropped off the car at the New Heaven branch before 9 am last Friday as scheduled. The man at the reception told us and two other customers before us to just leave the keys to him and we would receive emails from them. It was before 9 am when we left their office. However, they sent us an email in the afternoon with a receipt that says we returned the car at 9:40 am and charged us extra half a day. We came back to their office to ask them to return the money they wrongly charged us in the morning of the next day. The man at the reception impatiently took down our information and said it will take 6 to 8 weeks to investigate and fix it. We were really curious why it takes them so long to correct such a simple mistake? The customer service was so bad - wrongly charging us nearly extra 50% fees then having us to wait for two months to see if they could fix it. Their system automatically sent us an email asking for feedback after we returned the car. We gave them our feedback and told them our experiences and requested them to return our money, but they have not responded to our feedback and request yet so far. The way they deal with customers is just not responding your feedback and requests. For people who are returning cars to this branch, be careful and make sure they take down the right time you return the cars. Otherwise, they will charge you extra half days and will not return your money easily.

If I could give this place a 0 I would . DO NOT RENT FROM THIS PLACE AS AN UBER OR LYFT DRIVER! They will give you the run around if you are in trouble , leave you on hold for over 40 minutes and hang up on your face when you have question and concern. My Lyft rental was towed during a ride while I helped a costumer and this place refused to get me any help.

If you rent a tesla from here be prepared to have to drive to a supercharger every time you need to charge. They did not provide a cord in the car because they “always get stolen” and they do not have anymore at the branch. Oh, and they didn’t even let me know there was not going to be any cord in the car so at midnight I barely made it to a supercharger. Also check the car for trash, they don’t do a very good job of cleaning the cars here.

Made reservations for a Manager Special EV car and wasn’t even told until we walked to the car that it wasn’t available and that we will be getting a regular car and the car was given to us Dirty wasn’t even given option of any other car. When voiced our concern the employee just ignored us like he didn’t even hear us and was very rude. Definitely won’t recommend especially just moving to New Haven now know to drive out of the city to rent a car.

The manager is someone who should not be in a position where he has to work with customers. He is rude and demeaning. We were told by corporate to go to the location for a car exchange. We had a case number and were told to give it to the manager and an exchange would take place. The manager came out and instantly was rude. He refused to take our case number or really even listen to anything we had to say. He admitted he had cars, but stated he wouldn't exchange the car for us, regardless of what corporate said. We were in no way rude while speaking to him, but I can honestly say I have never felt so dismissed and dissatisfied with an employee, let alone a manager in my life. This man should not be allowed to work in any customer service position as he is a horrible representative for the Hertz company.

As a Hertz Gold Member, I have rented vehicles from this location many times. However, the worst experience I have ever had occurred yesterday. I have never rented an EV before, except for a Tesla. On the day of pickup, the customer service representative, Clark, told me that the Tesla was available but difficult to retrieve due to its location, and suggested that I switch to another EV. I agreed to this change. Unfortunately, the replacement vehicle had a charging problem. While I was trying to explain and resolve the issue, Clark repeatedly refused to listen, behaved disrespectfully, and showed a dismissive attitude. His conduct made the situation unnecessarily stressful and frustrating, and ultimately left me feeling angry and disappointed. This experience does not reflect the level of service I expect as a loyal Hertz customer. I was shocked by this treatment and would not request service from this representative again.

Great experience. Martin really took great care of us. Found us a bigger car since we didnt know managers special was only electric vehicles anf for bryond reasonable charge. He also took the time to explain different insurance coverages which I never accepted before until now since I always assumed my credit card would take care of it. But he was 100% correct about the limitations after reviewing my card agreement later, its a secondary coverage, any damage I would have to pay out of pocket and file claims plus a deductible pay up to 300 admin fees and many others, totally not worth the hassle. I wish other locations were as thorough, courteous and patient with my 100 questions. Overhearing other employees maybe they do rush the process try to get people and cars out the door quickly, but my family was really taken care of. Thank you Hertz.

Staff is helpful, polite, and accommodating! I was in and out of the place very quickly for pickup/drop-off. Unfortunately, the car was not cleaned very well so that knocks off a star. It had an unpleasant odor/what appeared to be permanent stains throughout the interior, but I did choose the economy option. Oh well. Overall, I got to and from my destination in one piece and the experience was hassle free.

They gave us the worst car possible with only 14 miles per gallon. Worst Hertz location ever. Online it said the location opens at 9 AM, so we arrived early at 8:45am to make sure we could get the car we wanted while booking. The listing showed a Kia(we understand it’s just a sample image and a similar car is fine). However, when we arrived at 8:45am the location was already open and other customers had already taken the cars we were hoping for. If you advertise a 9 PM opening time, doors shouldn’t be open earlier. On top of that, the staff was unfriendly when we asked questions. I would not recommend this location at all.
