Tom towed my car today and made it easy for me which I appreciate because I use a walker. He was friendly, helpful, professional, and fast!

Unfortunately, I did not have a choice in selecting the towing company after being involved in a serious accident on the interstate. My vehicle was towed by this company to their holding yard while I was transported from the scene by ambulance. When I was later able to access my vehicle, I discovered that my hunting crossbow — which was securely inside the car — was missing. The vehicle had not been locked by the towing company and, to make matters worse, I was informed that there is no surveillance on their property. This raises major concerns about how vehicles and their contents are being protected while in their custody. I have made multiple attempts to contact the company for answers and resolution, but I’ve yet to receive a single call back. I was simply told to “talk to the police,” which feels like an attempt to pass the responsibility — despite the fact that my vehicle was in their care, on their property, and left unlocked. This entire experience has been extremely disappointing and frustrating. I would not recommend this company to anyone, and I sincerely hope that better standards and accountability are put in place for future customers — especially those unable to advocate for themselves in the moment due to medical emergencies.

I had a really bad night tonight and needed a tow from Handy's. Jesse and James were absolutely top notch and got my car out of a tough situation as well as anyone could have. I hopefully won't have to use their services again but am happy they are there when I need them.

This is specifically a review for Hedi, who jumped my car quickly and cheerfully: I don't know how he was cheerful in frigid cold! Give that guy a raise: his customer service is the BEST.

[EDIT:] I have spoken with the owner on the phone since they replied to my original review (below). He said again that he would warranty the work, but just as quickly turned around and said he wouldn’t actually do it and hung up on me. This guy is such a scammer, he doesn’t even bat an eye while lying in public like he did in his reply. Now I know, it’s both incompetence and scamming. [original review:] I can’t tell if they’re just incompetent or actual scammers. They were hired by my insurance to tow my car to a different shop to literally replace one bolt and do a diagnostic, but talked me into letting them diagnose it. It took them a month and they charged me 8X the estimate… but they didn’t even replace the bolt or do the diagnostic I originally paid for! I repeatedly visited the shop and spoke with the owner who promised to do the warranty work, including putting my interior back together which they trashed. Months later they’ve not even acquired the parts, but it turns out they left my engine with a coil pack floating around, firing on 4 of 5 cylinders. Even my exhaust is disconnected after being worked on here. Now the owner hangs up when I call, accusing me of being unreasonable for asking that the work I paid for actually be done. Even the work they added was probably unnecessary, and everything they installed is throwing codes. My car is currently broken down in their parking lot and they won’t even take a look or help out. Unfortunately it looks as though they are completely unreasonable and have no integrity, and my only remedy will be to sue them. CAN DEFINITELY NOT RECOMMEND. WOULD ABSOLUTELY RECOMMEND ANYONE ELSE. ID TRY YOUR DRUNK UNEMPLOYED NEIGHBOR BEFORE LETTING THIS SHOP EVEN FILL YOUR WASHER FLUID.

We locked our car keys and our apartment keys in our car late at night, but Tom was above and beyond helpful- I was having trouble getting Triple A to connect me with a servicer and so I called Handy's and reached Tom. Right away he helped us sort it out with Triple A and met us at our car quickly. Very kind, stand up guy--and we will only use Handys again, thank you Tom.

Car was dead, tried to jump it and didn't work. Called them to tow my car into the dealership. Jon showed up and said he could take a look at it real quick before they towed it. He had it running in a few minutes and saved me a lot of time, money, and stress! Thank you!

Ruptured my tire on a curb in my WRX last night. Handys towed it in a fixed her right up following morning in about an hour or two. Jon the tow driver was super friendly and kind for such an early morning job. Charlie at the front desk was polite and kind as well. Came out to just $40 bucks. Thanks again Handy’s!

Highly recommend Handy’s! Charlie and his staff are wonderful. My first experience with Handy’s was with a flat tire and Charlie was able to replace it that day, after AAA had towed my vehicle to the shop. Since then I’ve been going to Charlie for any vehicle need and he is accommodating and fair. We are lucky to have a shop like Handy’s in Burlington.

Tom who towed our truck came quickly and was very helpful and nice. Update: we had to have another tow in a week. It has been a stressful week! This time we had Jessie who was also amazing and prompt and efficient. Very grateful for this great business! Thank you!😊

I've had to use Handy's tow several time. Usually for dead battery and once for a flat tire. Today I couldn't start my 2013 Nissan Altima after work. I was fearing the worst. My roadside assistance sent Handy's over. They quoted me 30 minutes, but Tom was over in about 15. He asked me what was wrong and thought it might be my battery and he was right. Also my exhaust! I am very relieved. Tom was so nice, he explained everything and once again, Handy's to the rescue! Thanks Tom!

Today my young son and I were in Vermont for a medical appointment. On our way to the appointment, my vehicle began to overheat. I had to pull over for about 20 minutes to let it cool down. We made it to the appointment a little late, but we made it. On our way home, the vehicle overheated again. I had to pull over on Rt. 2 on our way back to the ferry. The coolant temp gauge was pegged on the red line and the temp was 260° according to my scan tool. We sat on the side of the road for about 15 minutes when a Handy's tow truck showed up out of nowhere. The driver asked if he could take a look at my vehicle to try to help. I was blown away by the generosity. He said it's 16° out and it's windy. I can't leave someone on the side of the road without at least stopping to help. He looked under the hood and did some manipulation of the hoses for the cooling system. The driver took off after a while and when my car cooled down, I again headed to the ferry. We made it all the way to the ferry and then to the garage in NY without the temperature needle getting above the 3/4 mark. I can't remember the driver's name but he said he was the supervisor and had been doing the job for 35 years. I can't thank him enough for stopping to check on my son and I and for helping get us home safely. Thank you very much! Edit: The tow driver said that even though I had just had a new thermostat installed, it's possible it was a bad unit. Well that's exactly what the garage came back with. Mechanic removed the new thermostat and lo and behold it was stuck closed. Couldn't get it to open. Installed new thermostat and everything is running cool so far. Thanks again to the kind, knowledgeable driver who stopped. I owe you one!

What’s the issue, Jessica? Why is it taking so long for the driver who picked up The vehicle that was parked legally to contact us? The vehicle should’ve never been towed in the first place now we have to take an Uber to you and probably have to argue about a charge when whoever called the toe in the first place if you’re demanding payment should have to pay or you should just waive the fee for misunderstanding on the person who called it in There should be no misunderstanding from your driver, though who took the vehicle from a legal parking spot at City Hall that has no paid parking while set driver was in City Hall/library. Shame on these people.

they were not prepared or reliable. i called about getting my battery jump started and i ended up needing a new one. the tech was nice, but said he didn’t want to be the person who switched my battery, gave me the options of him doing it tonight or someone else doing it the next day but it was up to me. i asked him if he could please put in the new battery as i need my car. the technician started to switch them out before realizing he didn’t actually have the battery. all he could do was jump start my car and give me a business card. i was told they would be able to come out the next, and to give them a call. i called both numbers on the card, one was disconnected and one tried to scam me about medical insurance/medicare. i was very upset when i called AAA again and found out Handy’s service would again be the ones who worked on my car.

Prior to today, I had nothing nice to say about Handy's. I wouldn't go to them if I could help it, but I got stranded 45 minutes from Burlington after my car broke down and needed a tow. I only rate them so highly because I feel the need to shout out the driver who towed me. Eddie was knowledgeable, friendly, courteous, and made a bad situation feel so much better. He went way beyond the bare minimum to take care of the situation and I felt like he genuinely cared that I got where I needed to go. He's a hard worker and deserves at least double what he's making. Handy's is not absolved from my prior criticisms, but if their entire staff were like Eddie then I would certainly give them a call every time I had car trouble.

Handy's Service today was awesome. Car didn't start up. Sunday morning! Serviceman showed up in 35 minutes. Professional and curteous. Determined battery was ok. Called for a tow. Thomas showed up in 40 minutes. Thomas made me feel that Handys would take great care of my car and placed me first on Monday morning. Highly recommend Handys !!

Handy’s provided a very quick AAA response to mounting my spare tire after a pothole destroyed one of my tires on a Monday night & they got a new, matching replacement, pair installed within 2.5 hours on Tuesday morning (even fixing my bent rim). And to top it off, their roadside assistance guy, Jonathan, was fantastic, fast, courteous, & very friendly. Handy ‘s business tag line is “We strive for ‘Totally satisfied,’” & they definitely met that level of performance & deserve my gratitude & thanks!

This was our first time visiting Handy’s, we were referred by some local folks & we couldn’t be happier with the outcome! We just needed a new battery + the installation. From the dealership to other local auto shops we couldn’t get quoted anything less than $510! Dealership wanted $660! And that’s with them possibly being able to squeeze us in… no guarantee on when we’d get our vehicle back since it’s tire season…. Handy’s got us right in & finished up in a timely manner for a FRACTION of what the other places quoted us. It was truly a pleasant surprise to have such a great experience at an auto shop! I would HIGHLY recommend! Overall the customer service really won us over!! 10/10!!!!

Amazing from start to finish. The tow truck and the staff was professional and friendly throughout the process. The alternator repair service was efficient. The new alternator was ordered and fixed within 24h as promised, allowing us to get back on our way with peace of mind. We truly appreciate their promptness and expertise, and highly recommend their services to anyone in need of reliable towing and repairs. The owner went above and beyond by kindly offering us a lift to a rental car if we needed one, while keeping the car for the repair. This level of customer care made a stressful situation much easier, and we are truly grateful for such thoughtful support.

Despite what I've heard about Handy's, I had a good experience on 2-5-26 both with John who came by my house to tow early in the day (when I wasn't there) and then again with Tom in the evening. Tom was able to get my Hyundai Ionic 5 on the tow truck, despite the vehicle not having a tow bar or any kind of hooks to hook it up. He had to use the holes in the wheels! Tom did an excellent job! And texted me when the car was delivered to the destination = the Hyundai dealer.
