Had some guy following me talking smack because I wasn't wearing a mask! And he was a customer! Didn't even work there! And the manager wouldn't say nothing to him about it.

I have shopped dollar General stores since they started here in Des Moines. Always helpful and friendly employees. If u want to go walk around and just visit. I recommend the Altoona , Pleasant hill & Hubbell locations. The stories are clean & Staff is great as well !

Terrible customer service. Standing at the resister and cashier said she will be right there she has to finish counting. No way -several left right then. I was one of them. Too many discount to be rude to customers. Will never go back

This particular Dollar General is lacking in a lot of ways. Sections of the store are not stocked well at all. There's very little space to walk in the isles. And finding something specific is very hard to do because what is being stocked is sitting in the isles themselves. The only good thing I found for this store is that the customer service almost makes up for the experience of being in the store.

I hate to rate this store with such a low rating because I shop there quite frequently and the nice staff but the only reason & good thing about this store is the convenient location for me. They never have things put away so the aisles are constantly full of boxes making it very difficult to even see what's on the shelves.. and it's every single aisle. All the time.

Staff are always looking angry one in particular is an older lady and I don't like going in when she is working. Makes the environment and shopping experience feel bad. She has been rude to me in front of my son. I don't like to report people I have worked in customer service for over 10 years and I don't take it personally or report people but one more rude comment and I will report her

The workers are rude. The guy that wears the bandana is one of the worst that work there. I wish they would bring the older lady back she was the best. Every day this place gets worst and worst.

Id give a 5 but they always run out of the large packs of good "n" fun dog treats. Some lady buys up all. Should be a limit of 5 or 6 maybe. Love that I can afford stuff there. I am disabled so it helps that has some of everything so I dont have to go to grocery store.

Location just keeps getting worse, due to lack of management knowing how to manage. Man with the bandana needs to find a new job, absolute worst customer service every time he’s working. Should not be a manager if you have anger issues like that.

Went to get a few items and the lady cashier with the neck tattoos was very rude to the person in front of us and even rude to me. I think I'll find another place to shop for my items now. This is not my first time this has happened either. Usually rude, or tweaked out. This place needs some real managers and some help!

Staff does a good job of helping you. The store is clean and organized, with merchandise displayed clearly and stocked as well as can be done. Sometimes could use more help to keep things up.

Considering my horrific experience at the Dollar General at 2570 Hubbell Ave, Des Moines, IA on 9/28/24, I'm not surprised at seeing the recent negative posts. In fact, it's what I expected. There were two cashiers ringing customers up. I was in line for about 8 minutes and when one of the cashiers took care of the previous customer, I walked up to the counter and the cashier simply walked off. I did not want to go through the line again and I told her that I would like to make a purchase. She refused to ring me up. I remember someone with a meek voice behind me telling to please exit the store. I guess this was the red bandana guy. To be honest, I'll probably not go to that DG anymore not only b/c of that experience but because logistically it's impossible since I was traveling cross country. And all I can say about that is Thank Goodness. But I also want to speak about it in broader terms. What I experienced is symptomatic of today's culture where it's no longer about the customer (and customer service) but about the employee. If I could, I would give no stars.

The Dollar General on Hubble is a problem with staff with not having products out on the shelves all the time too many carts in the aisles, but the main thing is the staff!!!! I don’t appreciate when I ask a question to somebody in a professional manner being disrespect by having someone jump back, put their hands up and then come at me not a good idea to do that to a lady, especially when that’s had 10 years of martial arts!!!! I simply asked do you sell spray paint and this guy freaked out on me told me I was intimidating. I weigh 115 pounds Soaking wet on one of the sweetest people you’ll ever meet and I’m a counselor have been for over 20 years!!!!!! That man has some serious psychological issues going on!!!!! And any other place will ask you your date of birth for alcohol cigarettes, and everything else, but he insisted on having me pull out my ID and scan it for a can of paint. I simply asked why, and he freaked out on me again I really think he needs some crisis intervention at this point. I will not be going back in there get your store under control!!!!

Came to this location, no one is up front. Walked around the store, looking for someone to check me out, I really just could have walk out with my things but I didn't! Don't know where Shamecka was, but She had the store stocked, and there was always someone up front! This new staff is not friendly at all, and they don't want to work. U guys have the wrong people working for u.

I would have given a 5 but the one Hubbell down from Guthrie has a very rude cashier I was getting a gift card and I handed her my old license instead of new one. So it wouldn't go thru i.ask her.if she would run it thru again with the right license that wasn't expired she wouldn't do it. We argued and she says we'll you.dont have to come back..FINE I WONT YOUR RUDE AS HELL.. And I haven't been back to that one since

I'm going to be honest and fair about this review. I do appreciate this being a local place to shop for things that we need on the east side of Des Moines however it has gone downhill badly in the last year. In the last 6 months pretty consistently you have to wait in line before you check out to hear the employees talk bad about each other and the management. In fact it's been so consistent I know the ins and outs of the store now. From the items not being tagged to the trucks not being unloaded on time inventory not being done one employee mad at the other one one thinking it's not fair etc this has been going on for the last 6 months to the point where it's embarrassing for the customers. Yes we have heard all of this so much we feel like we work there. It is now gotten to the point where I just choose not to go into the store anymore it really is the bottom of the barrel sadly. My recommendation even though you don't like your job I mean who does have some professionalism when it comes to customers. We shouldn't have to listen to you complain about your schedule the unloading of the truck inventory cleaning who did what etcetera
