I wouldn’t recommend this wash. I never leave reviews personally but I felt it was necessary this time. After the wash damaged my car (tore my tail light cover off), I spoke with many staff members who were very friendly. However, Mark Watts had a condescending tone and spoke to me like I was a child when I expressed my frustration in how the situation was handled. Mark stated that it would not be sent to corporate and after speaking with the corporate office— that’s not even the protocol. So Mark lied to me to get me to give up and walk away. Additionally, they viewed the footage and confirmed my tail light was not broken before entering the wash but will not allow me to view the footage myself. I think this could have been handled better.

This location has now damaged two separate vehicles of mine—four years apart—and denied liability both times. The complete lack of accountability, professionalism, and equipment maintenance here is beyond unacceptable—it’s reckless. 🚫 Incident #1 – 2019: I took my 2016 Mercedes-Benz GLS 450 through this wash. The car had just been professionally detailed—compounded and polished two weeks prior. The paint was immaculate. After the wash, it had clear, uniform scratches across nearly every panel—consistent with abrasive or contaminated equipment inside their wash tunnel. I filed a damage claim, and like clockwork, it was denied. Their excuse? “Our equipment doesn’t cause damage.” That’s a convenient blanket statement to avoid responsibility—one that fails to address specific evidence or facts. Despite how obvious the damage was, they refused to take accountability. 🚫 Incident #2 – 2024: Against better judgment, I returned years later with a brand-new 2024 Toyota 4Runner TRD Off-Road. The paint was flawless. I figured surely by now, after years had passed, the business would’ve updated or at least properly maintained their equipment. I was dead wrong. After a single wash, my 4Runner came out with visible scratches on every high surface—hood, mirrors, fenders, and door panels. Once again, I filed a damage claim. And once again, I was met with smug dismissal and another denial of liability. 💬 The Manager’s Response: The manager I spoke with was not only dismissive, but mocking. He offered no concern, no solution, and no basic customer service courtesy. His exact words were: “Well, we’ll just have to agree to disagree.” Let me be clear—I do not agree. And I won’t be gaslit into silence by a manager who hides behind company policy instead of addressing real damage. ⚠️ This Is a Pattern, Not an Isolated Incident Tommy’s claims that “other vehicles don’t get scratched” is not a defense—it’s a deflection. Scratches caused by automatic car washes aren’t always immediate or obvious, but when maintenance is inconsistent and equipment is contaminated, it will happen. It’s about timing. It’s about upkeep. And in my case, it’s happened twice, with two different vehicles, years apart. The common denominator? This location. ⚖️ Next Steps: Civil Action Underway I am now in the process of filing a civil lawsuit against this business and pursuing formal action against the employee(s) responsible for mishandling both incidents. I’ve documented everything—vehicle condition before and after, timestamps, photos, and the dismissive interaction with management. I came here because most every car wash I have been to of this type (drive through and free vacuums) has hand towels, glass cleaner, and inside cleaner. But this one did not offer that. I do not think I will be back to this one, personally. Outside of that, the people were nice, and the vehicle was cleaned.

I went to Tommy’s Express CarWash and got the Works wash. Now let me tell you I’ve had my car washed before but it never ever looked as good as it did when I left Tommy’s Express CarWash. By far that it the Beat Carwash in the whole state of Nc. Better yet on the East Coast itself. I highly recommend that if your in Kannapolis,Nc or any of the surrounding areas Visit Tommy’s Express CarWash It’s Your Time To Shine!!!

I take good care of my car. And have always been told not to go to these kinds of car washes but I did and guess what? Ripped the paint off of three spots on my car. I did fill out an incident report. But they said they wouldn't cover my car because it was two years older than their time frame of cars they cover. But now I have a messed up car. All that they said was sorry. Re-called In Response to their comment. Same story.

First, the good stuff: Very quick wait then wash process. Despite having a lot of vehicles in line, everything moved rather quickly. The employee at the cashier window was very friendly and helpful with my one-off purchase. I normally wash by hand, but my truck was REALLY dirty and I truly didn't have the time to properly wash my truck at home. The dryers were pretty strong and got about 95 percent of the water off my truck. The vacuums were exceptionally strong and efficient and got everything up from my carpet and floor mats. Now.....the not so good: When I got home, I had to spend TWO HOURS furiously buffing out the clear coat mauling their wash process did to my paint! Not only did I pay $24 to wash my truck, I got the added bonus of spending 2 whole hours hand buffing my paint ,when I had other, very pressing things to be doing. I'm not telling others out there to NOT go there, I'm telling everyone to just be aware to be prepared to spend the extra time at home with you favorite wax and buffing towels. As for me, I will not go back, It's better to have a dirty truck and wait to hand wash that to deal with the extra work created.

I wanted to give a BIG shout out to Tommy's Express. I've been a customer for over 1.5 yrs. I have had nothing but great encounters with all the staff. They have always been so helpful and polite to me. I also would like to give. A Special thank you to Mark. This young man has always gone out of his way to be respectful, professional and polite to me. I bring my car at least 5 times a week and NOT one time has he ever been anything less then professional and friendly. 9/10 times he has asked me if I'm happy with the wash and if I need anything to not hesitate to let him know. I've also noticed him checking in on others while I'm drying my car displaying excellent customer service. Thank you Mark for all your hard work and dedication to Tommy's express. Needed a car wash and figured I’d try out Tommy’s nearby. Got the $16 ultimate wash which itself wasn’t too bad overall, missed a few spots, but you can’t expect it to be perfect. The wash did bend my metal front license plate which was upsetting but what disappointed me was the service of the workers. Having seen the damaged plate one of the kids tried to bend it back and said there is nothing they can do and walked away. (It’s not possible to bend a metal plate back to the same integrity as it was new). Not very good customer service to help gain a new customer. No offer to replace the plate for me or any compensation of any sort. Now I’m out $25 on another plate. So what was supposed to be a quick wash is going to end up costing me over 40 bucks.

Beware the brushes are harsh! The machine ripped my license plate off my car, scratched my car and bent the license plate cover! I will have to buy a new one and now there is a REALLY bad and deep scratch thanks to the machine here.

Got "the works" and I'm Less than satisfied with the quality of wash. It was very quick, less than 5 minutes, so it's a classic sacrifice of quality for speed. There's still plenty of dirt left on the rear of the car, especially the on the windshield and wheels. Will not return or recommend.

My first visit here was great. The young man at the service window was extremely helpful and patient. He helped me make a good selection for me & not for upselling. I went through & was pleased with the amount of brushes/machines to clean my car & tires. Once I exited there were several areas to dry your vehicle and to take care of tires & floor mats. They also had vending machines at each space to purchase towels, air fresheners etc to complete your experience. There was a free floor mat cleaner that is shared by all. This was a great experience for me and although its not near my home, it is by Sam's Club which I visit a couple times a month so I will be back. I have to mention that this location is next door to another car wash. I haven't been there but I'll definitely return here.

Not worth the money. Did not even touch the right side of the car with the spinning brushes. What a joke. Did not clean the windshield completely either. Don't bother wasting your money.

Was not satisfied at all with this location. I normally use another car wash but wanted to try this one out. There is no one there to guide you into the wash itself and there is also no cleaning supplies to use. This is very disappointing as every other car wash I have been to has cleaning supplies for you to use. I know I will not be using this location anymore so I called and asked for a refund so I could go back to where I was before and they told me they were not able to do that. my car is still not fully clean

Took my Chevy Colorado through the wash twice today and both times heard a loud bump towards the dryers. Got out of my truck and realized that one of the spinning brushes (I assume) took pieces of my passenger front wheel off. I called the store and they said they'd send someone to look at the brushes. Truck came out pretty clean and Casey the cashier was super cool. Was really hoping I had found a good place to take my truck but I'd prefer to keep my wheels intact.

My twin works here and my car always comes out really clean with the Works wash. I've got a white car so getting it's really hard to keep clean. My car is also lowered on coilovers so this is the only wash in all of Charlotte that my car can actually go in.
